on the back of this i'm sure matt williams will be invited to at least a dozen cheltenham preview nights in 2013 watchit...

i always like seeing a NOBODY doing well like that.
it also sends a message to the people out there who in my opinion are misguided when they say there is no place in racing for low-grade horses....
if THEY had their way HUNT BALL wouldn't be allowed to have ran at folkestone as he was too lowly rated.
great stuff to see a low-grade horse go all the way and take on the big boys and come out on top...
KNOTT stuck it right up WILLIAMS there watchit...glad to see that tbh...i always like seeing a NOBODY doing well like that.it also sends a message to the people out there who in my opinion are misguided when they say there is no place in racing for l

if you could understand it of course.

i think he drinks at AFTERTIME ARMS tbh...

Opinions are like ar$eholes as they say, and fair enough, everyone likes to think they know they are onto the winner. It's the so and so "CAN'T WIN", or so and so "WILL WIN" bllx I can't stand. No shades of grey, they know it all and yet little is heard after the event, unless they've actually managed to get a winner. Then you hear plenty...

It's a bit harsh this lads. Matty isn't on a gravy train. He isn't trying to be pals with everyone. He's a lad having a bet who got on the telly for a bit. I'd have gone on if they asked me.

what you say is correct watchit but it is also about PRICE...
and at 1.79 i think LIVERPOOL are a lay...
personally i'd have them at 2.2 so i've got to lay them at 1.79...

I must admit to being a touch emotional this evening, HappyHibby. The big meetings often remind me of the better times and in particular, our mutual good friend, Aceform.

you know me watchit...i ALWAYS believe in my OWN view...no disrespect to ANYONE...
you're view is well-founded but for me 1.79 is the wrong price therefore win lose or draw i'm happy to lay LIVERPOOL tonight...

what's the point in betting something just because a man on the telly told me to...?
that's just utter madness imv...
and i'm sure you agree with that.

I've had enough of Suarez. He may well go and score a hattrick tonight on my form but he's let me down. I stuck up for him then he did that handshake thing. I've shaken hands with fellas I'd like to drown. You just do it to be polite. I hope he goes to Paris or Milan or whoever wants him.

Matt is bullish with his opinions. I don't think anyone should be criticised for giving opinions. It's not like anyone was saying Matt was way off the mark before the races. I prefer opinionated to fence sitting, myself.

Knott made himself a laughing stock criticising the handicapper for raising the horse beyond 140 when he had just admitted telling Geraghty not to worry last time because he had 2 stone in hand (horse later put up 15lb). Doesn't come across as full of integrity but should fit in within racing circles.

and what a performance, couldnt have hunt ball with the weight but absolutely delighted he won, top stuff!
just watched owner on sporting life after racefookin brilliant! delighted for him!sounds like he wants to skin the bookiesand what a performance, couldnt have hunt ball with the weight but absolutely delighted he won, top stuff!
He was quite self depricating on the atr preview show at times. I'm not a big fan of Matt or anything like that, but it's easy after the event. It's all too easy for connections to crow after things go their way.

knott is the one laughing not tho treetop and i for one am delighted for him.
why not give matt some stick, he owns the horse and was obv hurt when matt said his horse couldnt win so no harm in putting matt back in his place once in a while!

well if i had a horse i obv loved and a tipster was on saying it had no chance i would jump at the chance to put them in their place once the beast has gone on and won and it didnt just win , it absolutely hacked up. prob the easiest winner of the day!

He may laugh but he has shot himself in the foot big time for being a loudmouth bussy. Couldnt give a monkey's myself as I rarely bet on jumps but he will end up eating humble pie,its just the way of the world.

Is this the same Matt Williams who worked for the Racing Post, where he was asked to do an article on Exchange shops, liked what he saw and soon after resigned to become a fast picture thief and now calls himself a Professional Gambler?

of course he has but he was obv just so excited. its nice to actually see some emotion from someone. he too put his neck on the chopping block and he was 100% spot on both times. he was actually honest with punters and told the public the horse was better than his mark and anyone that listened got paid out.
i dont listen to trainers but this guy obv knows what hes looking at.
quite refreshing to see it actually. the exact opposite happening in the 3rd with jonjos horse, quiet run after quite run, horses not being put in races, drifting and nout said about it.
im delighted for the man, one of the last few honest men in this godforsaken game who actually gave the public information and more importantly was spot.

If Knott and Matt met they would have a laugh about it, it's all good fun and a great part of the sport. I tried to take on Frankel in the guineas ffs, if Prince Khaleed had come in my local and said "have some of that brother you silly fecker" it would have been brilliant.

I'm more aiming at the people who sit in judgement without offering an opinion of their own. Fair play if some can quote their posts writing that Matt was way off the mark for taking on Hunt Ball for the place. He did say he was laying the place because he would either handle the track or he wouldn't.

well yes thats fair enough cider. i dont really critisise matt, u will see many posts on here from me recently saying i would be laying sprinter sac as i had doubts the hill and i stuck by that and i thought i had a fair argument. i was wrong, what can ya do. as far as im concerned, his odds on backers were guessing and on this occasion they happened to be right!
i hate fence sitters but i also hate people who get visably annoyed when u dont agree with them even when u have a fair argument. i found this the case with many SS backers on here tbh. then when he won , they came on bragging like they have somehow spotted this great talent before anyone and re posting old comments with 'dont say u were warned, he is a MONSTER' etc, an 8/11 shot on the day lets not forget
they all think they are the messiahs now god love them!

he's won a race at cheltenham with a horse rated 69 when it started winning.
no need for any humble pie being eaten tbh...

That might not be Matty he was talking about. Well done to anyone who won on the football. It was nice for Stevie tonight.

Hard to believe lots of people commenting on this thread watched the same Cheltenham preview as me.
Matt Williams said it was entirely conceivable Hunt Ball could win but he'd be prepared to lay it for a place on the basis the one time it had gone left-handed this season it had been beaten.
Clearly, that defeat at Plumpton - when, incidentally, Hunt Ball was running off a mark almost 3st lower than the one he won off yesterday - was attributable to something and, at the odds, Matt was prepared to take a chance it may have been the way around they were going.
With the benefit of hindsight, it now looks more likely it was the heavy going. However, unlike all the after-timers on this thread, Matt didn't have the benefit of being able to watch yesterday's race before proffering his opinion.

re. your comments about Aldi, I shop there once a week and I can
honestly say that for Orange Juice, free range Chicken, various Cheeses
amongst many other things the quality in my view is 1st class and the
savings are considerable. By the way when I have bought my few things
at Aldi my next stop is Marksies where I admit the quality is good but
the prices are sky high. Good luck with your punting I for one will
not be investing a copper coin at Cheltenham cant stand the place these
days all the hype does my head in.

watchit, you should try Aldi and whilst you are at it, if there is one close to you
pop into Farm Foods, some of there prices are very competitive especially Milk.
Glad you like Cheltenham used to love it myself and for thirty years never missed
going to the Festival, but for the last ten years or so the place has been taken
over by cant and hype and I just cant be arsed with it. Good luck once again.
