Just in (see username) and perhaps I might not be the first, but have read somewhere on my travels today that this firm stated that their managers are not alone at night in their shops because there will also be customers present !! What a rancid bunch of chancers !!!
betterbet were on the verge of going under and jennings decided to do one of there acts of kindness and took them over as they did in the infamous heathorns saga.
shame they never weighed everyone in properly

I used to single man an independent- but that was before all the virtual stuff every 2 minutes - seriously cant think of when you could even make a cup of tea now with all the sh1te they show.

The day the counter gets jumped and the manager is having a sh1te it might teach em.
He would probably get sacked for having a poo during the 14 hour shift

My mate manages for Laddies, he is old school and knows evertyhing about all sports not like the insipid people you do see behind the counter who don't know what day of the week it is.
Out of a 8.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m. day he is allowed a cashier for 5 hours. The rest of the time he is on his own, looking at him he is literally dying a death in what is a busy shop. It's so unfair yet nobody cares about him. The customers love him because he is a professional but that doesn't seem to matter. It's so wrong.

I suppose there are worse jobs, at least if he has his laptop for an occasional punt. Should not be single manning shops taking over 250-300 bets a day imo

Not that many really homefortea, say Thursday, Friday, Saturday then 2200 - 2500 which is not that busy with two but on your own most of the time that is a proper few days work. The thing is when he is not taking slips he has to manage the fobt's, they are literally non stop. 6-12 grand in a day is the norm. All has to be counted, own his own. Plus all the debit card movements and all the grief from the Polish and Ukraines.

sendin..I am no fan of single manning (left when it was suggested) but there are too many Betting Shops if you think that 250 bets needs two people for 14 hours !!

goggles not sure what rooting means !! pauloneil left the Betting Shop managers game about 12 years ago when the half-wits took over in the head offices.Never was a yes man !! The last shop that I managed takes only 50% of the turnover all these years later.Thank Christ for FOBTS !!

Let me put it this way and I am about to retire to watch highlights of my beloved Widnes beat Wigan (25/1) I will stretch him out if I ever come across him again..

End of the day it is an Employers market right now with so few jobs about, most working in the Shops now would love to get out but just cannot. It is mainly the ones who have been with the Firms longer who want out more as it isn't the job they signed up to do - the working hours expanding were the first issue and slowly but surely it has got worse with the situation at Ladbrokes pretty much being the last straw I think, husbands/partners across the land must be pissed off as they are having to go down 30 minutes before the mrs finishes and keep an eye on things as the women are that worried they may get done over - all this about not being allowed to empty machines till after close is some rule as well (they don't get paid after the shop close time I think).
It has become a total joke but the only people who can do anything about this are the Government and they don't give a **** either!
I went in Coral yesterday and put a few Cheltenham bets on - maximum take out was 300 quid yet the lad had to ring them through. He knows his stuff as well but said he just does everything to the petty rules as they have a new Area Manager and he is on top of them for anything. On Friday in another Coral I had 55 on a 11/10 (Kempton Horse) and the lass was on about ringing it through, then I had another - 125 at 4/5 on Rugby points and they rang that through as well - took about 5 minutes. They are all so scared of getting disciplinaries etc... for not following to letter of the law it is pathetic, you would think someone high up would have the nouse that it is not doing anyone anygood to have Staff constantly on their toes over absolutely **** all but all the Bookies seem to love sacking people - it is quite bizarre and pathetic all in all.
Shops are ****ed and everyone knows it, FOBT'S simply all the way now.

I mean in Coral this weekend you have had posters up saying "we will lay any bet to take out 10k" and the commentary in Shop going on about it and they have people phoning up for bets that take that out.
What the hell is going on like.

FOBT profit/loss - just short of £9,000 Over the counter p/l - £1,500
That's in a shop that does 3,000 slips a week. Racing is a hinderance for bookies now. - steady stream of mugs willing to pile money into money making FOBTs.
