Skybet offer states in its terms and conditions that anyone who has self excluded from its casino and gaming sites during the promotional period are not eligible for this offer Just like the drug dealer that will give you a free bag of weed in the hope that you progress onto a crack pipe ![]() |

Can just picture them dressing up Ed Chamberlin like the child catcher out of chitty chitty bang bang:
"Lollipos, Ice cream, Free spins today kiddy-winks" |
|
By:
I am pretty sure the clause was not in their terms and conditions for the same offer in previous years

They are obviously taking Responsible Gambling much more seriously this year fife
![]() ![]() Special offers that are only available to potential addicts. Nice. |

thinking back around 8 years ago my local laddies saturday morning 2 atractive young birds giving free tenner pops on the fobts to anyone going in the shop of just walking past saying go on its a free bet you cant lose ,plenty took up the offers ! ........like giving out free crack outside the school gates !"
|
|
By:
All the shop managers were also forced to do it Foyles - stand by the football coupons on a Saturday morning and entice all the young lads (usually in and out in 5 minutes having done a fiver on the footy) to join in the "fun" of the free to enter FOBT competition.
You pop back 2 weeks later and a couple of those lads are hooked. Same when they finally cut the stakes to £2 - the shop managers were forced/targeted to stand by the machines and get people to download the app so they could play from the comfort of home at unlimited stakes. |
|
By:
Its the type of thing I would have expected from sadblokes, no morals and a couple of others but naively thought better of them
![]() |
|
By:
yes ia few of my sons mates where hooked the same way pop in sat morning footy bet ,have a go wi the free fobts bet and invariably win a few quid ! this is easy .............the rest is history.

I'd be pretty confident that a criminal prosecution could succeed if the right case was picked to run with. Pretty much every old-school shop manager that I know has left out of shame or embarrassment at the things they have been asked to do. Of course all the dirty little secrets of how they manipulate and exploit epople are hidden away, now that they have got them where they want them (on-line). The lads that used to give the machines a good thump are probably giving the wife or the dog a good kicking now instead. Happy days - as long as the shareholders are happy.

That is scandalous by Skybet if true. Despicable even.

When Betfair first introduced the slots on here - there was an option to play them for free on demonstration mode. I was doing some consultancy work from home at that time and was on a (very boring) conference call, I loaded up £5k and started spinning away on a slot machine at about £100 per spin. I was about £800 up in no time.
I ended up just winning a few hundred quid by the time it was my "slot" on the call - closed BF down and got on with the call. Logged in later and my actual balance was up by that same few hundred quid! I self excluded the next day and have never heard anymore about it - but I can't have been the only one (and I doubt everybody was a winner!). |

1% all Cheltenham festival races at purple
|
|
By:
It is certainly true s.kenbo though any one can check by opening up the offer and reading the further terms and conditions.
|
|
By:
I often wonder how the conversation with BF would have gone if my slot on the call hadn't arrived. I would have (inevitably) lost the £5k (that I thought was just a token) at some point - but BF Customer Service was ok back then tbf and I know i was 100% in demonstration mode.
|
|
By:
I always thought it was strange how I always won when playing in demo mode and then my luck always seemed to change when playing for real
![]() |
|
By:
fife - you are a cynic - surely you don't think demo mode pays out more than the real thing
![]() ![]() The best thing about Cheltenham was every year if there was a filthy each way race at Sedgefield or Southwell on the opening Tuesday, you only had to visit half as many shops as usual to get a good few quid on each way without standing out. |
|
By:
I always assumed it was just coincidence
as I am sure no gambling organisation would stoop so low as to entice me to play for real by having a higher mythical payout in demo mode![]() . |
|
By:
I play them at their own game sometimes. If you play blackjack or roulette I noticed you often win on your first bet, ( enticing you to bet more ? )
So now I log on , have one bet , only £5 , and cash in. On balance it is in profit. |
|
By:
Brians......i would be very surprised if over a long period of time if your first bet of the day would show profit over any other spin. If you are still convinced of this though i would be betting to the max on that first spin every day , and then spend the rest of the day just counting my money !
|
|
By:
TBf if you are losing squillions on the slots then £10 returned aint going to make any difference. I don't self exclude I've just never played (and never will) as while I can kid myself I have some sort of angle sports betting the simple maths says the house always wins eventually at slots. i don't gamble for the sake of it, I gamble cos I think the selections will win over time.

Used be great offers in the Past at cheltenham time in Ireland but thats really been cut back.
In ppowers you have to have a online account card thingy that verifys you as a losing punter to qualify for any offers which are not much compared to years past. If you are lucky enough to be a profitable online account or even just lose too slowly account you are excluded , mugs only qualify these days ![]() |
|
By:
Betfair still have their offer running till sun (if you are on the right tariff ), bet £20 and get £10 of free bets from Tues .

Very good spot re the Skybet T&C which states:
Customers must have an active account in order to be eligible for this promotion. Customers who are, or become, self-excluded from Sky Vegas or any Sky Betting and Gaming products or have had restrictions placed on their account during the Promotional Period may not be eligible to participate in this promotion. The word may is used. I always exclude myself from everything except Sports betting on all online betting sites to avoid any temptation inc Skybet. I have availed myself of these Cheltenham offers in the past, I'm sure a few years a go it was £25 for the first race each day. Always got paid out correctly so will try again and see what happens if the bet loses. If this is a precursor of things to come, there will not be many reasons to use Skybet as mostly sacrifice price with no bog to get them. Seems to fly in the face of safer gambling and typical of howe bookmakers shoot themselves in the foot, every chance they get. |

No. I rarely bet and do not do run-of-the-mill handicap races either mostly Grade 1 or Flat Group races, and the occasional fun bets eg Grand National. I'm surprised I've received them as I'm not a loser either.
