I don't know about Fanning but I could stop a runaway locomotive just by putting my shekels on it. Incredible run of seconds I'm going through.

for you it might be the most important race of the day, for Joe it means jack-s*** to him an everyday ride.

I backed Fanning but it looked to me as if the other horse came into him and stopped him riding the finish the way he would have if that had not happened. I'll admit I've only seen it once and not even a head on but he didn't seem to have the room to give the horse a few more slaps but unless you put the other horse over the rail, the result always stands anyway.

TBF looked like it blew up; hadn't been out for 61 days and that was my fear. trainer isn't exactly a 'winning machine' and probably left it short. also inexperienced and I'm prepared to put it down to (in)experience even though it cost me a packet. joe is a wonderful jockey and wouldn't beat one up for the sake of it.
disappointment is temporary, next time, eh?

Fair enough Bilbobaggins and I did say I'd only seen it once and not from a head on view but on what I did see, his horse was farther off the rail at the half a furlong pole than it was at the winning line and it did look from side on as if they had got close with the winner leaning into him a bit.

The irony from Fanning's point of view is that even had there been something worth the stewards looking at, he didn't ride to the line and so was beaten half a length and they would then only have said the winning distance was too big for it to have made any difference anyway, whereas a short head might have been another matter.

Aye even Workforce became an obvious dodge pot.

Probably a bit harsh to call a horse with 4 wins and 3 seconds from 9 runs including a Derby and Arc and over £3million in prize money a dodge pot but then again that's another argument as opposed to here.......or unless you were being ironic? Happy

I said became...a dodge pot. He looked very much a Kings Best dodge pot at Ascot.Mischief

wouldn't it be nice to live in a country where the stewards would at least pull him in and say "look, from what we could see you hit the front there and then immediately stopped riding. it looked like you had the favourite's measure but were determined not to win. you appeared to ease and stand up inside the final 50 yards. you might be aware that we have had recent issues where race f1xing has been proved and racing's image has been tarnished. in that context, what do you have to say about your ride there?"

Cool Hand Luke battled back and found plenty after being headed. The runner up was not going to beat him. Yes Fanning gave up when the fav hit the front again. It looked bad but the horse was beat.

In the last 50 yards you could see Cool Hand Luke knuckle down and he went passed Fannings mount, and was completely on top.

Could you not see that.Laugh

Fair dos Angel Gabriel but I'm not sure I agree about Ascot and although Ryan Moore made the excuse Workforce was struck into when Rewilding came down and that's why he began to hang across the course, I'm not really convinced and think it was just that the winner Nathaniel did it and then Workforce copied him.

At the time i actually blamed electro magnetic energy and was convinced Workforce had heightened senses which caused him to drift across the track. Now i believe he was just beginning to show signs of being a Kings Best dodge pot! Like they say sooner or later you turn into your father!Plain
