Anyone been to Stockholm before?

Hi; LIVED THERE FOR THREE YEARS IN THE 90S....CRACKING PLACE TO LIVE.GOTO GAMLASTAN WHICH IS THE OLD TOWN AND HAS SOME NICE BARS AND THE TUDOR ARMS IS THE IF YOU MUST DRINK IN THE ENGLISH PUB.RACING AT TABY IS GOOD ASWELL AND YOU WILL KNOW SOME OF THE JOCKEYS.

Echo the above. Great place but very pricey. Everyone speaks English, so don't break your back with the phrasebook. Went to Taby and Akers Canal dogs track. English voices everywhere. Top jockey when I went to Taby was M(ark?) Richardson, formerly with Dandy Nicholls.

EastLower: I live in Stockholm and here are a few tips: Sure you can use Betfair, no problems at all. Tudor Arms is a genuine (I think) English Pub located at Grevgatan 31. However, a pint would be around £6.

One important thing is when you go by cab, only use Taxi Stockholm or Taxi Kurir, they charge descent prices and are reliable! Always ask for the price if you go with some other company, because otherwise they could really rip you off.

Women? Sure, there are tons around the clubs down at Stureplan or Café Opera which is expensive but classy. Escorts? I would not know, but i would be surprised if you found one under £150. As for Täby Racecourse, don't bother. Low class winter racing and half an hour away from the city. Cab there would be around £30 so if you have to go there, take the train from Stockholm Östra to Galoppfältet.

Everybody speaks english so that will not be a problem. Have a good one, and a tour at Gamla Stan (Old Town) is quite nice. Enjoy!

Pretty much echo what's been said: really nice city, but not easy on the pocket.

Remember a bar called KGB we ended up in which was top notch. Not that far from the main station, but you'll have to google it to find out the address.

Been there and enjoyed it though can't remember any bars (enjoyed them all). Hardly any cash so make sure you have more than one card/debit card incase problems with one.
