Aghh - 3rd time in a week, he's put me off a winner on WHill radio
4 horse race in betting - tipped two (both unplaced), other two (winner and placed) Going through a shocking spell of paddock watching at the moment (Negatives winning easily, lookers tailed off) Off my Christmas Card list |

![]() Yes,including the Breeders Cup Turf winner apparently....load of noise |

May be a nice guy but he's utterly clueless. Every horse nice looking, big strong horse. FFS - sort of thing my 10 yo niece says.

If you want to find winners based on how horseslook in the paddock then first you have to be convinced that that is a legitimate method of doing so, then you have to find someone whose opinion you can trust and is good at assessing on looks alone, yet what if there are half a dozen horses looking well?
It's also one thing to back or lay based on his live paddock watching summary but doesn't he have a tipping line too? If so then how and when is he selecting those tips? |
|
By:
Ken's undoubtedly a nice guy and decent banter, but he belongs in a different era. With the improvement in training knowledge, facilities, equirpment etc. the difference in looks between horses is very narrow and no longer important.
Just this afternoon he said that Kim Bailey's winner was in coat and unfit and that he'd be "shocked" if he won. The horse hacked in. |
|
By:
Impossible to back or lay based on paddock inspection alone. However, like loads of other factors, if the information is available it should be incorporated into your overall view. What weighing you give this in comparison to other factors is down to the individual.
|
|
By:
Just to point out I've never backed one of Ken's tips
However, as stated in the opening post, he's put me off/reduced win bets, when enthusiastically slating the looks of a horse. |

What on earth are you doing listening to WH radio. It's an absolute dire programme. Presenters are ego tripping, puerile and sexist. Just dire. |

So he was shocked?! I'm shocked at winners all the time; it happens. He is not saying it won't win. I'd take Ken's paddock view over almost all; including mine. Sound judge and a decent guy. |

Recently had his tipping line closed down due to lack of winners.
A while ago he had some disastrous, albeit brief appearances on RUK when he could hardly get his words out. Now just seems to be scratching around willing to do anything for money. |

Tips for Today
Ken's NAP of the day Bivouac Huntingdon 2.10 This big juvenile won his first two start over Hurdle's and looked a usful type. He ran is if he needed the run at Chepstow and the step up in trip will suit, he should have more to come. Ken's 2nd Tip of the day Izmir Wolverhampton 6.40 She ran third behind Farandine on her racecourse debut and did not get a clear run. William Haggas 2yo should improve considerably for the experience. |

I can't say I am ever in the least bit concerned if he gives a negative opinion on something I have earlier backed. The only pundit that appears on WH radio that I reckon makes the game pay would be Jon Babb.

I posted a query thread on here, in April, as to who the WHill paddock watcher at Wolves was?
He had fancied and backed a 20/1 rag of 4 and summarising how supremely well it looked on the radio, cut short his report to go and put even more money on the thing, as it was post time. It scooted in - he had scorned the first two favs who promptly finished 3rd and 4th too The replies confirmed it was Jon Babb |

By:
Any stats ? Eg year to date, no.of bets, wins ,stake ,return p/l etc ? Otherwise one isolated apparent 20/1 tip, means nothing.
|
|
By:
paddock watching and horses to post is as much about knowing the horse as what they look like on the day, so what you want to know (if having to rely on secondary data) is how does the horse compares to when it last ran, not rocket science is it? but of course this is racing...

John has shares in some horses doesn't he? Seem to remember some discussion a while back when his horse came in. Agree, he does sound like he knows his stuff.
