Well, yesterday's recommended massive lay on Pippa Greene went to plan but I rather spoilt things by also suggesting a lay on the second favourite.
The lesson for newbies is that once you've done your detailed homework and come up with a particular horse to back or lay it's important that you don't try to embellish things or get greedy by coming up with another bet in the same race when you've not put in the same study on your second choice. Here endeth the lesson.
As for today's lay, then I have no hesitation in going for Jackie's Solitaire in the 2.30 at Fontwell. Yes. it won last time but a couple of things about that race:-
a) Two were out of the race very early on, including a decent Twiston-Davies runner. b) The first four home were all in with a shout coming to the last. c) Approaching the last Jackie and the third were battling it out though the former gave the impression that she wasn't going to be keen to go past. d) As it happened the other horse's hind legs went on landing and it was lucky not to fall. This left the race on a plate for Jackie's Solitaire but I'm not convinced she would have won had it not been for this incident. e) She was carrying nearly a stone less than the other runners.
Today's race includes several runners and a newcomer that will, I suspect, prove too good for Jackie. Good luck.

sofiakenny, that is the best news I've heard all year. It's always seemed that the minute you put your shillings on my tips it's the kiss of death. Your support for my losing tips was such that I even came to believe that somehow you were in league with the Devil.
However, since you have stopped following my recommendations my fortunes have witnessed a dramatic improvement. Indirectly I could say that it's all down to you that my finances are on the up.
Please don't be tempted into following any more of my tips. There's just something about the two of us that puts 'the curse' on our betting. I'm just glad I'm not married to you....that would be a disaster.
