Folks, as you go about your punting today, please take a moment to remember one of the great racehorses: George Washington, who lost his life in tragic circumstances at Monmouth Park on Oct 27th, 2007.

Aidan O'Brien: 'He was always the best we ever had'

Mick Kinane: 'I've ridden some good ones, but I've not ridden any better than him'

Keiren Fallon: 'He's by far the best horse I've ever ridden, there's no comparison'

In my opinion, unbeatable when he ran to Guineas and QEII form. There's nothing ever that could have lived with his cruising gear and his instant change of acceleration.

He was my favourite horse also Fallon Factor.

I've been trying to get my hands on one of Coolmore's Gorgeous George jackets, or even a cap ever since Monmouth but to not avail.

What a brilliant racehorse he was!!

One of my favourites too -but no superhorse.
In fact on a line through Ramonti he was equal to VIVA PATACA.
What an amazing career VP has had -deserves a biography all of his own.

Will So You Think handle the dirt?

On would think they'd baulk at the thought of risking another valuable horse in the race, especially if the track was sloppy on the day.

Was at Monmouth Park, it was a tragic end to a vile day.  Will never forget the respect paid to George in his final moments by the American racegoers, they were first class.  A very handsome and great horse whom everyone appreciated.
