Not really. Ability directly proportional to odds in and out. There's a lot of them about.

Correct SS but unlike Dettori & Fallon at their peak his "great ability" never shines through when the "ryan factor" is somehow not reflected in the odds.
He would have won the previous race also if he had made more use of his horse earlier. Very good ride on Venetian View though.
Ditto jon. Whenever him or hanagan win on one of their unbackable values I'm almost invariably on the second.
