Gutted. Was on 2nd at average 12.92/1 for a decent sum. Work Boy is the last horse I wanted to see there with Daldini. Probably the only horse in the race that we might not outstay. That is so sick...so close to 6.5k.

But, surely, as you and the other Mr Whippies on here keep telling us, the whip is this air-filled tickler that does not hurt under any circumstances. So how have one extra tap with said fashion accessory have persuaded that lumbering beast to finish stronger than the other Smith oss?

Watchit 100%. We have non-triers to beat the band which is the critical problem affecting racing and now they introduce a rule which makes it unbelievably easy to cheat. The new rules should be scrapped and let everyone get together and come up with a proper plan for the start of next flat. By everyone I mean all the stakeholders in racing and that does not include the RSPCA. The big short-term problem is the NH which is upon us. Either the new rules should be put on hold or the BHA should be disolved because they are doing untold and irreversible harm to the sport.

Crawford - no offence but you're displaying the typical ignorance of ill-informed people. Firstly I object to being called Mr Whippie. All the riding crop does is issue a reminder to the horse to keep it up to it's work - it doesn't hurt - how could a piece of foam hurt a half ton animal? However the action of using it reminds the horse that it needs to keep on trying for a few more strides. That is it.
