don't go into journalism; "stable are in form" should be 'stable IS in good form!'
stable is singular, so is pack, group, duo, trio...!
mind you few journos seem unable to get 'it' right!

Perhaps he was thinking that the horses from the stable are in good form.

Whatever,he remains my favorite commentator.

Both are right, imo.

Language evolves with the people using it, rules exist only to limit the free expression of experience...

"stable are in form" refers to a group of horses from a particular trainer therefore it is plural. Stable referring to a horses "bedroom" is singular.

ratpack = good bloke

he is the only one i can think of out of all the commentators/presenters that come on here to talk to us about racing . whether it be picture speeds on RUK or his commentary on a race.

Man City leads the premiership, on both counts, given brevity is key when headlining.

although a trained sub-editor I'm not necessarily right; james willoughby, for instance, would probably need to contextualise the whole, subjectively!

reckon royal straight looks a wonderful place proposition 2day.

Man City crowned Champions of the Prem', as opposed to 'are the Champions' or 'is the Champion of the Prem'

Thanks for the tip, I'm tempted to have a little on Aqua Lad - could be one of those MJ horses who is beaten 52 lengths and then comes out next time and wins!

ratpack is one of the few people in the racing media i like, he seems a genuine enthusiast without all the 'look at me bit'

Stable is singular, OP is correct, even if he's an utter thicket when it comes to the use of exclamation marks!
