The Henderson gelding Pippa Greene is, I suspect, one of those horses whose career failed to live up to expectations.

He seems to have had training setbacks based on his somewhat limited racecourse appearances and this year has run up a sequence of being placed second which suggests to me that he lacks either the determination to go through with his effort, possibly for physical or psychological reasons, or lacks a turn of foot where it matters.

I've never been keen on Henderson's habit of sending horses up North, often to run poorly and then to turn in a much-improved performance when handicapped better down South. To be sending this horse to Haydock for a measly couple of grand hardly inspires confidence unless of course there is a more lucrative plan laid out for the future.

I'm putting my head on the block by recommending the first two in the market should be lay bets, with Pippa as the main contender to finish out of the places. Good luck.

Three runs back is the form that worries me about Pippa when he ran second to Sizing Santiago:
raced keenly, mid-division, headway to track leaders 3 out, ridden in 3rd between last 2, challenged when mistake last, stayed on to lead narrowly flat, headed and no extra near finish.

Sizing was subsequently transferred out of the Twiston yard to Dreaper's and next ran in a chase finishing second where it gave the impression of being a bit one-paced at the business end so I wonder what that says about Pippa's performance.

There's a line of form between Pippa, Rosbay and Yahrab.

On Rosbay's return to jump racing last month he finished fifth, a head in front of Bullet Man with Yahrab more than ten lengths behind that.

On Pippa's latest start he was 4 lengths behind Bullet Man so perhaps Rosbay has the beating of Pippa today.

i thought the only problem with pippa was that she pulled hard. id expect her to settle better and should go close

agree with Reve about pulling hard. Also think PG run was a better time than P in their Huntingdon runs.
