I do now. I contacted my bank as I did hot recognise the name on my statement. The bank said they have had many such calls and think the company will have lost quite a few account holders.

i was paying off aloan in the bank, and changing my bank account type(better interest),so had to be risk assessed/suitablity checked by head office - it came back no ,because betfair s name was on deposits and withdrawals,i pointed out there was more withdrawal amount than deposits,so after some phone calls they okayed it,
but i dont think betting companies should put their full names on transactions because ,suits in offices just see bets and instantly think - bad risk.thats why WHO do this ,so when will we get BFO .

tbf most banks would probably not understand as withdrawals from betfair appear as 'betfair refunds' on the bank statement.they probably think its due to a mistake ratjer than the proceeds of successful betting.all they are seeing is 'betfair debit'and 'betfair refund'.

bet is the problem word, and the big 4 are all well known so their brand name,as sky bet earier post ,vic tor ch@ndler might be ok as your average bank worker might not click,

I don't think it matters what abbreviation they use as all transactions are given a code by the banks depending what type of transaction they are.
All betting transactions are coded the same therefore when they look at your account it wil show up in the stats anyway.
Having said that the way they automatically consider betting transactions as being bad does seem unfair. If it affordable then it shouldn't matter whether you are spending it on gambling, shopping or golf.

that might be offical line and true on proper checks, mortgages or big loans, but alot of smaller stuff still needs staff to get approval from head office, the check i waited for was minutes, and they didnt tell me at first why ,only when i stated ive got no bad errors with the bank ,paid off loans ,not overdrawn did the girl say its because they ve seen betfair on your account - they might have codes ,but if a bank employee as to make a on the spot decision - he sees bet all over your statement it doesnt look good.
my mate has his misses on his back ,why not just have a discreet lettering,i bet you its why WHO do it ,
some punters might be loosing everyday and have 100 transactions a month - they dont need bet all over their statement

It's not that the see you as a bad risk, it's just that the banks like to think of themselves as having a monopoly, gambling with the Country's wealth. I think they've lost more than all of us put together.

luckily this time it didnt affect me,but betfair must loose alot of customers because of this ,as people dont like to admit looses, they might see bank statement and hide it from partner ,then stop betting cos the word betfair appears,
the fact a who customer couldnt reconise it was w ill hill shows it works
you just dont know how many customers it deters as no one will admit to you why they ve stopped depositing.

Whether you're winning all the time or not, I don't care what anyone says, regular betting on horses still carries a stigma with the majority of the population and moreso with the banks.

It would be the same scenario for somebody who solely TRADES on here, using a BOT - and NEVER strikes an all-out RISK bet.
They turn a regular profit - Pay 60% Premium Charge - and keep returning some profit to the bank - as 'Betfair Refunds' - But the Bank reads all their activity as GAMBLING.
