good and true indeed - well done.
And as to Cameron, this has shown him in a very poor light. It was highly unlikely the motion would have been passed, so why the hell bring a three line whip into it? Reminds me of a quote from (I think) the Dalai Lama: When my people change direction I must follow them, for I am their leader. |

@ YYW...
Reminds me that Cameron was by NO means the 1st or even 2nd choice of many to lead the party going into the vote six years ago, but performed well in televised debate. He is a performer and a very good one. HOWEVER, dig deep and whilst you DO find a decent family man you do NOT appear to find enough of the steel, the passion, the belief, the principles and the leadership that this country needs right now and, I believe, david Davis has in spades (Council House, Single Mother, SAS, self-funded thru Uni, Libertarian minded and not afraid to resign on principle) - now HE's the sort of chap that would have some of those bEUROcrats squirming. A bigger man than Cameron would have the ![]() s to tackle Europe, to tackle corporates not paying tax in the UK but wanting to trade here take advantage of our financial expertise, would have made Fox cough up the truth earlier (I happen to like Fox but he's been very foolish and naieve and should have walked straight away) AND would be telling Europe and the USA to sort their OWN mess out - we did ours two years ago and do not need them holding us back nowEUrope = EUthenasia to the Great in Great Britain and is a EUphemism for unelected gravy train robbers |

or an alternative view.... "It's better to be inside the train pi$$ing out than outside trying to pi$$ in" - Harry Enfield's 'yerp speech' circa 1988 |

I do agree with you frankelstein about david davis. He is a good man
But dont forget that he also lost to a somewhat less charismatic performer in Ian Duncan Smith in an earlier leadership contest |

@SH - hear what you say... although we all grow with experience. IDS was/is another GOOD man with good intentions... likemCameron... but I believe both lack the common touch.
The (wo)man in the street and in the small british businesses needs to be listened to... and it was the PUBLIC that triggered the vote with 100k signatures Cameron IS supremely talented at handling negotiations - e.g. getting a coalition with the lib dems out of a ruddy election mess when all thought they would swing in behind Comrade Brun and keeping the European leaders (mostly) onside... BUT he is increasingly dithering, changing his mind and appears to lack the gut instinct and gut feelings that inspire respect and admiration. I'd rather have a conviction politician - a Tony Benn, Michael Foot, Maggie Thatcher or David Davis any day - you know what they believe in, you can argue, disagree, respect and shake hands and walk away as friends, or at least agree to differ... |
