Why would you shell out for a horse and pay this man to train it. He may get you a winner at some point but must be one of the worst out there surely?

Or do you send him horse because you can tell your mates to lay the hell out of it?

Quantize

agree with you 100% the bloke is a disgrace. His only redeeming feature is that he LAYS one out for cheltenham every year though you need heat seeking radar to find it.........

His horses are simply unfit nearly every time they run, useless trainer, ruined many a good nag by running it unfit first time up and beggar me if it doesnt get injured.

he ain't useless, allegedly makes the game pay and it isn't through prize money is it. Was always surprised Lee hooked up with him. Don't get thinking he can't train 'cos he can.
Report ph. • October 23, 2011 3:06 PM BST
if he had one tomorrow showing at 25s for bits and pieces would you lay him if he wanted 20,000-1000 win only cash cash? If you think him useless you'd surely snatch the cash from his greasy palm.

He must charge a pony a week til march
Report silvergreaser • October 23, 2011 3:16 PM BST
Oh he can train alright then again the art of race horse training doesn't exactly tax the brain.

Murphy like many others exploit a system that is rife for exploitation.

Seems to do alright. Scots Nat, Whitbread, Cheltenham winners

Useless or not, I wouldn't have a horse with him if he offered me a year's worth of free training fees.
Report MALAY • October 23, 2011 7:21 PM BST
great trainer, long term strategy gets his owners a turn

An idiot, complete chancer cant stand him as a person either, had a horse there a few years ago, lies lies and more lies. No staff stay with him for more than a year
Report silvergreaser • October 23, 2011 7:52 PM BST
His brother Declan was some baby, nice family all round.

Whats the big deal?? Was'nt Ferdy Murphy , race horse trainer)exposed a few years ago getting caught on tape saying he'd lay plenty of his horses on this site knowing the horses he feeds, beds ands gallops every day will not be ready for the early days of that horses season.Handy few quid. . . . i think was his quote. Dont have a link for it though . . . . Sad
Report silvergreaser • October 23, 2011 8:34 PM BST
Murphy was recorded claiming that £1,600 had been made on the defeat of his horse, Christiansted, at Fakenham in February with bets laid on betting exchanges.

He later insisted the comments had been taken out of context and he would fight the accusations but was still fined £4,000.

So his comment would only have been valid if the MI5 had recorded the conversation?.
Report joevalue147 • October 23, 2011 8:46 PM BST
So he basicailly got away with laying the aforementioned horse for a handy few quid. No ban. Some operator alright.

What a waste of a talented jockey having to sit on unfit horses day after day.
Report TiptheOdds • October 23, 2011 9:26 PM BST
I´m sure Lee must wonder why he bothers getting on them in October and November...and December and January.

A lot of travelling and effort for nowt.
Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby • October 23, 2011 9:32 PM BST
Lee is a great jockey. WTF he is doing wasting his time with this guy only he knows.
Report larrence • October 23, 2011 9:47 PM BST
when one of his horses are well handicapped and laid out johnny robinson from x factor fame would win on it.
Report know all • October 24, 2011 12:46 AM BST
one of the worst trainers ever, he has some quality in the stable but they never seem to perform, gets a few winners at cheltenham its more luck than judgement, who knows this season we might see all these good handicapped horses winning

The thing I always wonder wit Ferdinand is how he remains immune to that rule re: Schooling in public .........

He basically defines the practice,  ffs !!!
Report TiptheOdds • October 24, 2011 9:20 AM BST
It is appalling just how many of his runners are tailed off after 4 flights. It can´t do the horses any good going to the track half-fit.

Surely the question we should all ask ourselves, given the information that is in the public domain, about the man is, "Would I trust him enough to do business with him?"

Answers on the back of a second class stamp, please.
