and the punter gets shafted as usual. the jockeys now have a licence to cheat even more than they do now, and no one can say a word about it.

The jockeys have let racing down (apart from Richard Hughes) from day one of this farce. They are obviously ,like most factions in racing, only concerned with their own finances. The limit on the number of hits is unworkable and will result in'virtual'racing. There have always been rules in place to deal with the occasional excesses of an over zealous rider.

duffy. 'Be true unto thyself, and as sure as night follows day,you will be false unto no man' That's the way I prefer to look at Hughes' actions.

When will you thickos get it?  The jockeys' objections, even those of the current darling of the happy, slappy brigade Richard Hughes (the one that is often lambasted for not riding a finish to place if a win was out of the question, yes?), were not objecting to the new rules per se, just the levels of punishment and the arbitrary number of strokes in the last furlong.

And as for this cr@p about punters being shafted, perhaps some of you will start to pay attention to the fact that riding skill apply just as much to the early and middle parts of races as much as the last furlong or so.

The Great Hughsie. Man of principle. I ride for owners, not punters. I can't do my best for punters. The old rules should be changed for me. The new rules should be changed for me. I'll give this one a ride. I'll drop my hands on this other one.

At least, I suppose, he wasn't the one coming out with that shyte about the older jocks self-regulating overzealous whip use from the confines of the weighing room. Nice one, Ryan.

again Daryl....agree totally....

many seem to have quickly forgotten the recent past in this whip furore....

..worth refreshing a few minds of the many inconsistencies....great stuff.
