Problem is George these people must have watched last year's race and will therefore be 'deviants', most of whom will deliberately crash their car on the way to the races anyway...

By:
Aviboyd, alternatively it could be an entirely new audience attracted to the sport having witnessed last year's GN and seen man and horse bravely giving everything in the heat of battle

George - hope very much these advance sales figures are true and represent what you say, that it was the positive spectacle of the race that attracted them. Unfortunately I have a very low opinion of the British public and can't help but think the very same people probably spend their free time rubbernecking and watching cage fighting...

Am I the only one that finds this slightly depressing, that despite last years carnage more people than ever are wanting to see a repeat performance. Yet alls well because when they do break their necks there wont be any whip marks about em.

Aren't racecourse attendances up in general?
Who exactly is complaining about the whip (other than the usual animal rights groups)? The PJA should demand to read those 2 bags of mail and check it's not the handwriting of the same 20 people writing in under different pseudonyms. |

This may account for the 2 sacks of mail -
"Animal Aid has campaigned against the whip for 10 years. It recently ran an advert in seven national newspapers calling on the public to send ‘Ban the Whip’ postcards to the Chief Executives of the leading racecourse operators, as well as the BHA and the Secretary of State for Sport, Jeremy Hunt." |

Any Organisation that sells car stickers with "Horse Racing Kills" really has only one aim doesn't it??

By:
what do they think will happen to the horses if they were to get their way?
|
|
By:
I thought they would just be turned out into a field with Poppies and Dandelions so they could munch happily away for the rest of their lives FD????
|

By:
FD, the price of steak will fall in Belgium.
|
|
By:
or maybe its an attempt to reduce the price of glue which they so obviously sniff

Year Zero merchants, circa 70s Cambodia imo

Animal Aid and the like rather than the pretty staid RSPCA are the problem. Very close to the lunatic fringe ( I can`t disprove their claim to be non-violent so am being careful ) and undoubtedly want horse racing banned completely, including flat racing. It`s an ideological thing about the commercial " exploitation " of animals and they won`t be bothered about what happens to unwanted thoroughbreds once they have attained their objective.

On many issues the minority make sure their voice is heard, under the misapprehension that they speak for the country, when all the time they are just a small minority making a lot of noise. On many issues they are factually incorrect, this one for example, yet like to believe they have all the info. on the topic in hand.Ignorance!
