disappointed but not surprised, discretion would have served interests of racing far moreso and BHA would not have lost face reducing the ban to five days. no idea whatsoever, it's not as if the jockeys concerned are not responsible humans.

A correct decision. The flagman wasn't waving the flag in anticipation of the Queen's 90th Birthday!
btw- if you are reading this, Happy Birthday Your Majesty for whenever it occurs!

THE nine jump jockeys banned for failing to pull up when a yellow flag was waved at Wetherby last Wednesday have lost their appeals, heard at a BHA inquiry in London on Wednesday morning.
The riders - Tony McCoy, Paddy Brennan, Graham Lee, Danny Cook, Jonathon Bewley, Denis O'Regan, Brian Hughes, Alexander Voy and Brian Toomey - were all represented by solicitor Rory Mac Neice.
Following the outcome, Mac Neice said: "I thought the evidence was overwhelming and spoke for itself. I'm very surprised by the outcome."
The upheld ten-day suspensions rule the jockeys out of several big races, including the Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby and the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter.
There was never any prospect of the controversial race being awarded to first-past-the-post Cunning Clarets, as connections did not appeal.
The flag was waved by head groundsman Ian Ward, who judged from his position on the inside of the course that the runners would not be able to get past a fatally injured horse being treated between the final two flights in a 2m handicap hurdle.
Ward took the unilateral decision to void the race after a breakdown in communications with the clerk of the course.
The nine riders carried on and completed the course. Each is banned from October 26 to November 4.
