Not a jockey I have much faith in, Andrew Thornton has ridden Combustible Lady the last couple of times.

On the first occasion over 2miles 1furlong she was held up in last place some twentyfive lengths off the front end. With about half a mile to go was given a couple of slaps and moved up past tiring front runners and seemed to be in with a bit of a squeak of getting to the front two but Andrew didn't over-exert himself further and she finished a fortunate second only because one unseated after the last. Not a bad effort considering she'd been off for a year.

Next race possibly came a little too soon and this time she was only held-up towards the rear some ten lengths off the pace and moved up effortlessly to finish third though Thornton hardly touched her and seemed content not to get to the bottom of her.

By my reckoning she has more than the potential to be in the money again today but I worry as to whether she has a finishing kick or if she will appreciate having the full quota of whip strikes applied.

The trainer's strike rate of 13% is reasonably good though Thorntons 8% is more suspect. There could be a few in here less exposed and for that reason I post this as a lay on the basis that she may be there at the last but will flatter to deceive.

That's a far more intelligent response than I could have expected from you sofiakenny.

Have you been attending night school?

That's constructive sofia - good to see your views Lucky.

And good day to you sofiakenny.

I must admit I feel rather sad when I see the likes of sofiakenny trawling these threads anxiously searching for any scrap of information in the hope of betting his two shillings and sixpence each way.

If I could afford it I would give him the money myself and pay for him to go on a Senior Citizen's coach trip to Bournemouth for a respite break.

moved up effortlessly to finish third though Thornton hardly touched her

Surely that's enough to put you off the lay at 4?

Appreciate what you're saying gollum and you've prompted me to take another look.

However, I'm still not convinced she'll do the biz. In fact I'll go so far as to say she will be lucky to be in the first three.

Will probably be trading short coming to the last but because her jumping leaves a lot to be desired  that'll be the time to lay.

As for sofiakenny, it grieves me greatly when a man of his stature is reduced to Red Cross food parcels though I just wish he could find some peace of mind and content himself in the knowledge that I'm doing well.

doing well??????????????????????????????????????Shocked
sorry if i dont believe you...if you are doing so well
why dont you re-imburse me for the heartache and misery you have caused?

I would not want to lay it myself, as this course may suit it better, and the ones with experience dont look great

those unexposed have to prove they can transition to jumps and a level of form, also this course may suit less I would be happy to take this to place all day long at 1.7 and above, and would cover the win for a lot less, good luck
Cheers

Well done Lucky - you don't have to follow him sofia - it's your own poor judgement which has cost you.

Thought he'd given it too much to do again, but certainly looks like a decent animal

Sadly I wasn't around at race time but had I known they were applying ear plugs on the horse today then naturally I would have suggested a large bet to win.[;)]
