It worked in cricket for the umpires...concentrate on a pool of just a few premier commentators, double their pay, and make them do all the decent meetings. Relegate all the rest to either AW winter racing or point to point. Make them earn their way back if they want it.

Because Aussie Jim just sounds bored, and doesn't do his homework. "And it's ERR UMMM" isn't really what's required.
