Lucas Cranagh, the horse I have backed for the Melbourne Cup,was allowed to run in Saturdays Caulfield Cup with a quarter crack on a

hoof "after some consideration " following a veterinary inspection. The vet had said " They have protected the hoof well and there is

no sign of lameness, but these things can be a problem under pressure ". The horse finished 5th,and as the big race is only just over two weeks away, I would be

interested to know how long these type of injuries normally take to heal and if the horse will be able to train as normal in the build up to the race.

It's like you splitting your nail...depends how far the qtr crack has travelled up or down the hoof....some good glue, blacksmith and some time will help
