Following today's close-finsh c ock-up by Dave Smith -
He is being transferred to 'head up' a newly created Whip Counting department.
Smith will be solely responsible for counting the number of hits with the Whip by every jockey, in every race, every day.
He will only seek any assistance on Bank Holiday Monday's due to the possible proliferation of meetings....
Subject to the 2012 Fixture List being finally agreed.
When asked how he would cope counting all 30 runners, split into 3 groups, across the course in the Wokingham Handicap, Smith assured ...
'Don't worry, I could do that in my sleep'.
