The final furong of a flat race takes 12-13 seconds in most races. If a jockey counts to three between each stroke he will ensure that he uses only 4 or 5 strokes in that furlong regardless of whether he sees the furlong pole or not. Practice counting one, two, three at one second per count and you will never get a whip ban again. Is that really so difficult? I don't think that horses would go any faster for more than that.

Oh dear sageform, you appear to be condoning the face of racing vocabulary.

If jockeys adapt to your method what will happen to that wonderful expression "ra-ta-ta-tat" of the whip in the dying furlong to just get up on the line.

I appreciate what you are saying but wouldn't it be easier if horses had a metronome attached to their heads?
