for months he's been in raptures with the gelded superstar- it all came together today! didn't see the weekender so I don't know if he tipped it but the Champion stakes has turned into my best result of the season, nice one Nick
Agreed, i read Mordin's comments earlier this week, and backed it accordingly. Had a brilliant day @Ascot, with Dancing Rain too (another Mordin pick for the Oaks). He might be a bit left field, and occasionally looks a pillock, but he's highlighted some corking priced winners. (Equiano too).

Well done OnTheSnaff, someone has finally said that it was an excellent ride by an excellent jockey. Had the horse nicely placed throughout, delivered the challenge at the right time, and frankly won a Group 1 with relatively little fuss. After 40 years of watching horse racing, I can't believe we've come to this. In my opinion, Soumillon's ride was perfect. (By the way, I backed Snow Fairy...)

Well shiver me timbers!, funny I backed the horse as well couldn't believe the return price of 12/1 really sealed the deal. Any horse who can win a group 3 and group 2 by 8L and 10L respectively has to be taken seriously, I was willing to forgive the narrow defeat on Arc w/end put it down as a nice pipe opener for the champion.
I didn't need any stats or some Mordin or Willoughby mumbo jumbo to figure out what at times is staring you in the face, your eyes are usually the best judge of a horse and a horse race.

Well done silvergreaser. I have to admit that the gelding thing (excluded from Arc) went right past me, shouldn't have done as I come from an era when geldings were excluded from all Gr1's. All the more reason for thinking the Dollar defeat was almost a prep race. We try to learn these things for the future...

Can't post when you're on the way to support British racing at Ascot.
It's not so much aftertiming as letting fellow forumites know that he's worth reading, & backing it up with some of his winners.

That was my point ilwab, I'm not blowing my own trumpet. I didn't use any scientific method to find a winner, I'm a great believer of letting your eyes do the talking, I wonder how many winners Mordin and Willoughby missed getting too bogged down over mumbo jumbo theories, stats and pace?.

dont get me wrong, im delighted for him and his followers but he may aswell just picked circus looking at the formbook. i actually singled him out on the 'mepoor' , i didnt back it, but i did notice that french runners do well in the race, and look at his form, its up there with any of the others in the race, its not like he was 50/1, he was relatively short, too short for me to have a bet infact.
again , i like nick and not begrudging him at all, 12/1 is a nice winner for anyone but hes just a guesser like the rest of us, sometimes hes right and ...!
i agree silver, why so much plaudits for mordin?dont get me wrong, im delighted for him and his followers but he may aswell just picked circus looking at the formbook. i actually singled him out on the 'mepoor' , i didnt back it, but i did notice tha
Nobody is advocating using him in isolation & I use many methods for selections not just blind following some journo. He picks losers too, (obviously). I even said earlier he's very left field and be horribly wrong, but on occasions he just nails a horses potential very early when some huge prices are available.
Personally, I like Mordin's take on International runners when finding form comparisons can be difficult. Others like his stats stuff, whatever it is i'd recommend reading him and making you're own mind up afterwards whether he's onto something or talking garbage..
