I have an answer to Soumillon's question......."Which sportsman has ever been fined £40,000 for a silly mistake?"
Adrian Mutu of Chelsea was fined over 17,000,000 euros for testing positive for cocaine. Soumillon got off lightly! |

I got a 5 euro parking ticket [:p]

agree . a 17,000,000 euro fine for cocaine is not to be sniffed at

Serious question, too, actually.
-------------------------------- If the BHA had any brains - They would SCRAP the 5 FURLONG rule- Rescind any bans for Final furlong offences - as a retrospective consequence Reimburse any riders already affected. RESULT.... Waters CALMED. |

By:
In all seriousness, the BHA have made yet another balls-up.
Can't think of many other sports that are run by halfwits like ours is. |

Open Letter to Mr Soumillion
Dear Chris I feel that i must apologize on behalf of some of my fellow countryman for this weekend's events. You may have thought that England was a fair country full of stout hearted men with strong principals that fought in order to save Europe many years ago, well sadly, times of changed. It now mainly consists of limp wristed Homosexuals who struggle to appease a nation full of people who have the attention span of a Duck Billed Platypus who think a cow comes in a bun, Simon Cowell is prime Minister, benefits are a right and if Racing was banned all horses would be turned out in delightful little fields instead of being exported to France where you have them with Chips. Yours in Sport Nick |

Surely the sponsors of races who put up the prize-money are entitled to have some say on the matter?
|
|
By:
The problem is the bha dont realise the knock on effect this going to have.
Sponsors, trainers, jockeys & racing would be better off in an another country, if that wasn't obvious anyway. |
|
By:
Yes, but who does keep the £50k ?

it should go to the owner.Purse money is destined for winning connections and I can't see it is lawful that it can be seized.

the legality will be challenged in a court of law and who knows it may be Soumillon, the jockeys cut also pays the valet so what happens to his %
|
|
By:
Well the owners or trainer must get the money and then, in theory, could pay Soumillon but I can't see how the BHA can keep it. It would be like getting done for speeding, getting three points but because you drive a Ferrari you have to pay a £2000 fine!
The whole thing is a joke though and, on what was supposed to be the first day of British Racing to rival that of the Breeders Cup and Arc, a French rider has come over and got a ban and, in effect, a huge fine! I know in France they have some stringent and almost conflicting rules regarding jockey error, which regularly go against British runners, but if you are going to ban Soumillon then you at least have to allow him his percentage of the prizemoney or, as the French stewards do, you deem his actions to have affected the outcome of the race and therefore disqualify or demote the horse to second place. |

Fines are rightfully paid to those who set them. In this case the BHA. It may be unjust but it is no different from a speeding fine-you pay the people who made the law-the Government.

By:
so this new whip rule could be a cash cow form the struggling bha, hmmmmmmm
|
|
By:
Yes. More fines, more stewards secretaries to count whip strokes. Helps the balance of payments if you take money from French and Irish jockeys. Makes a lot of commercial sense. I think George Osborne will be pleased.
|
|
By:
I am sure the race sponsors are very pleased to donate to the BHA scum

so basically it's in the financial interests of the stewards and the BHA to find guilty as many jockeys as possible.
|
|
By:
Yes.
The local stewards will be rigorously enforcing this rule,as they will be on performance related pay,a bit like wheel clampers really. |
