My guess is that if the plan is to go over 10f Cecil will want to stick to that distance. Only that race at sandown that Workforce won I think before Royal Ascot.

He can start over 1m at Royal Ascot and then go over further, loads of races thereafter over 1m2f.

Lockinge will be far too early and that race hardly adds prestige to his career. A defeat in it, and everyone goes 'I can't believe he got beat in a Lockinge !'
