Not sure if it has been suggested before, but, another side effect of the new

whip rules is that it renders the form book more useless than before

because all those horse ratings achieved before may not be achievable again coz you can not now

batter the horse the required number of times to achieve said ratings.

Hope that makes sense.

If you can, I think it's imperative that people watch video race replays of horses they fancy and count the number of strokes needed to get them into races.

Also, those horses that hardly saw the whip but still managed to get into contention might be worth considering.

People obviously have different views on this...i personally think the whip makes little difference to a horse's finishing position (except extreme Deano's Beeno-type cases) and am more than happy to treat the form as it stands, particularly on Flat. Time may show i'm wrong but we'll see.

Of course the whip makes a differance, ask any of the old time "honest job jockeys" the ones who could be relied on when the money was down, or if the owner was chasing black type.

Was it Piggot who said he could get any horse to win a race if it was entered in its own class of race? but it might never win again.
Can't imagine why any of the big owners would now want to race in Britain in the future.

The whip would certainly be an aid to form study if you knew in advance how many times they'd be hit if they were struggling to win. Since we don't, they can stuff their 13 lashes for the gambled on horse versus 5 for the drifter it beats in the photo up their insider @rses.

Well i was on NO COMPROMISE on monday and it was almost ridden hands and heels..It WOULD HAVE WON with a couple more cracks..

CT, would it have won if there had been no whip i.e. the winner received the same number of cracks (none).
Report One footed pony • October 15, 2011 12:36 PM BST
A couple more cracks, usually turns into

a whipping frenzy though.

Can't the jockies give a little more thought

to thier jobs?

It can't be that difficult surely.

7 times, 5 of which can be during the finnish.

Simples!
