Connections say that there is a chance that Sir Henry Cecil's superstar Frankel will run at the Breeders' Cup this year.
It had previously been understood that Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot would be his final start of the season, however Lord Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, has hinted that plans may have changed.
Grimthorpe told At The Races: "The QEII will, in all likelihood, be his final race of the year.
"He's staying in training next year so Prince Khalid Abdullah didn't want to rush him this season, which is why he hasn't run since the Sussex Stakes.
"What I didn't say is that we'd totally rule out the Breeders' Cup.
"We'll see how he is. The Breeders' Cup will probably come a bit too soon but Henry (Cecil, trainer) and the Prince will decide after Saturday's race.
"It is a possible option but I wouldn't get too excited about it," Grimthorpe added.
The son of Galileo heads into Saturday's Group One having won all of his eight career starts and is the red-hot favourite accordingly.
If he was to head to Churchill Downs, Kentucky, on November 5, the most obvious Breeders' Cup race for the three-year-old would be the Turf Mile, although the Classic, over 10 furlongs, and the Dirt, would be other options.
