really laughable.   Is there none of you out there who have

worked in stables who have the balls to tell the forum what

some ill mannered horses are put through to make them conform

to stable discipline. Horses in some yards are brutalised

far worse than you will ever see on a racecourse by jockeys.

The real reason for the debate is the perception of animal

welfare by the general public.  I am pretty certain that the

RSPCA knows what goes on out of sight of Joe Public.

Very true, Wee Eck.
Horseracing is a harsh business.

sean rua, nobody seems to remember or want to remember the trainer leading

an ill mmannered horse to the post at Hamilton when in front of the stands the

Trainer  in full view of the people on course gave this horse one up the belly

that would have floored Sonny Liston in his prime, the trainer then carried on

leading the horse to the start as if walloping the beast was an every day

occurrence, eventually the BHA punished the guy by warning him of his future

behaviour.   Rightfully this chap should have been prosecuted by the RSPCA.

Wee eck,you have got it all wrong mate,i worked in racing for a long time,no trainer worth his salt will see his horse abused at home.
Sure they will get a Smack or maybe two when absolutely necessary.but abused?..........Not a Million years mate.

In a Million years.
Report wee eck • October 14, 2011 2:46 PM BST
Acey, I never used the word abused I was pointing out that many trainers will do whatever

they think is required to make sure a horse knows who is master, and some of the things

they will do to obtain that result are a lot more painful than being whacked by a jockey

during a race.

Wee Eck,i have seen good stablemen men crippled by wayward horses,it's a very dangerous game.
Report wee eck • October 14, 2011 3:10 PM BST
acey exactly, that is the reason why recalcitrant horses have to taught who is boss.
Report dod • October 14, 2011 3:15 PM BST
Wee eck is that why they stopped giving the strap to recalcitrant children because it did not work.Mischief
Report wee eck • October 14, 2011 3:23 PM BST
dod would be interesting if the BHA would disclose how many stable staff are currently off work

at the moment the cause being they have been trampled upon or have been savaged whilst going about

their work in stables.
Report dod • October 14, 2011 3:26 PM BST
Wee Eck from my own knowledge i know how dangerous it is working with horses i was not trying to make light of it i assure you.
Report wee eck • October 14, 2011 3:32 PM BST
dod the point I am making is that if the Public knew what actually occurs in getting

some horses prepared for the track many eyebrows would be raised.
