I think he's got some bollox, and you have to admire that in a sport where never putting your head above ground pays off time and time again...

Are you wrong? Is that a rhetorical question?

Will regret it and backtrack in cold light of day. frustrated with losing breeders cup rides

i dont see why the ban tho should be international based the rules in usa are different

If the lad wants to stop riding he has every right to and doesn't call for an expletive from you. Can't imagine he'll be knocking on your door asking for a donation to help him survive. If you give up doing whatever you do tomorrow I wouldn't expect Mr Hughes to exhibit any bad manners towards you.

Anthony Knott can take his rides. No one will know the difference.

I give him credit for taking a stand on a set of rules which have been ill-implemented, don't make sense and ultimately do the sport as a whole no favours.
Not saying hit a horse 25times in a finish but the 'rules' as they currently stand are a nonsense and need changing or being totally repealed. Think the reason he chose tonight was because the ban effectively ends his season anyway, he'll have the support of his patron and father in law who as his principle employer will support him, that isn't a luxury most jocks have. As a senior jock he probably feels he has a chance to make a difference and I hope he's right. He's eloquent in speech and is well equipped to fight his corner and those of his weighing room colleagues, this helps clearly. As an aside - he'll have had his blood boiling this evening as 'they' all done the lot on the beaten 2yo that he got the ban on and I do mean, the lot - probably gave him all the fight he needed to say **** it, I'm doing this tonight. Fwiw I'm no champion of jockeys, what some of them get up to is farcical but this situation the sport finds itself in is beyond farcical and needs addressing urgently imo. |

paradox - you will be saying that McCririck can have AP's rides next, makes no difference.....

OP - stupid comment

|
By:
In my view, P& E you are mistaken, someone had to make a stand and Hughes should get all his colleagues' support ,and from the people who love horse racing .
|
|
By:
Will you all stop watching and betting on racing in support of Hughes?
I didn't think so. |
|
By:
Many already have and I think many more would be willing to P&E..
I would if enough others would, and I have already rang BHA earlier today to let them know my feelings on their new rules. |
|
By:
paradox, you appear to have a vendetta with Mr Hughes, am I wrong?
|
|
By:
Not good enough, either you recoil from racing and have no more to do with it, here or any where else, or you shut the **** up.
|
|
By:
Because a man has decided to give up race riding everyone should turn their back on the sport. Why?
|
|
By:
Hughes's reaction is everything to do with the championship, and nothing to do with reason. i don't see Mullen screaming about the whip ban.
|
|
By:
HE'S A VERY DECENT JOCK BUT NO SECOND COMING AND IS JUST PLAYING THE MARTYR HAVING BEEN CAUGHT OUT

paradox and equilibrium
13 Oct 11 23:40 **** him, he can lay tarmac until he's 65. He will be no loss to racing what so ever. Am i wrong? yes! and im offended as an irishman, enjoy your ban! |

We should all show the same amount of integrity as R.H. and when push comes to shove have a day off in support of the Jockeys and Trainers who realise this was a stupid idea and will lower the amount of money coming into the sport as punters gamble of something they see as a safer bet. One day boycott of bookies should do it.
