he is sulking, but he was right, Canford Cliffs didn't run his race against Frankel, it wasn't the REAL Canford Cliffs.

By:
There is a huge difference between sulking and disappointment. Of course he was gutted when the best horse he ever rode didnt perform and that, it transpired, was due to injury

Wonder how quick he's ask for his license back if Queally couldn't ride on Saturday and Lord Grimthorpe gave him a ring

People aren't still believing that stuff about Canford Cliff being injured are they?

And Canford Cliffs too.

There are some terribly naieve people here whop read form simply on distance on paper and not with eir eyes... AND believe all the hype and cr
ap tat comes out of Coolmnore and Hannon's mouthsCC was a very decent mid 120s horse trying to give weight to a 135 horse who is probably 140 in waiting... was never going to happen the issue really is the bs from hannon prior to the race, given his horse had been bought by coolmore AND was the best he'd trained (poor Richard has not hadf a sniff, despite his 300 horses in training each yr, of a 130+ animal!) AND the inability to handle the realisation it had been massacred by Frankel... not just beaten - it was PULVERISED The shadow turned up a week later or more and is si ply a solution to avoid further embarrassment to Hannon and Coomore. NO disrespect to CC - a VERY decent horse... but not in the league of Frankel |

somerset...totally agree.....and retired it as there wasn't a hope in hell of ever getting near to frankel and all that would happen by taking him on again is that his reputation would end up being tarnished ever so slightly with each subsequent pounding cc took....in the end , they do a disservice to frankel by coming up with some coock and ball story about an injury.

If you care to read the full intvw, available on sporting life, Hannon admits that CC was fit and fine but the "shadow" was a concern and required box rest
In the opinion of most objective observers, CC was taken so far outside it's comfort zone with Frankel's late=race sectionals he was blown away... Hughes tapped it down the RIGHT shoulder and it then drifted LEFT... it never picked up and rather late attempts to straighten it do not disguise the fact it wa stuffed good and proper. they got the tactics wrong, thinking they cld sit on Frankel's pace and go past but were quite simply blown away... the other horses' form confirms the distances and CC was simply out-classed and subsequent excuses and attempts to belittle the result are simply bad grace... We'll see if they have they bottle to take Frankel on AGAIN with Strong Suitg - somehow I doubt it! |

my respect for hannon and hughes evaporated after their interviews after the sussex, not once did they really praise frankel, all we had was hes a good horse but ours wasnt right, and 1 0 best out of three, pathetic

I think an even beter example was Wolverhampton a few years ago. He got banned for crossing and taking some riders out, did exactly the same thing a few weeks later and started saying he would never ride there again. Obviously only likes rules if they do not effect him. Seems pathetic though avery good jockey and would be a major media improvement on Mick Fitz so let's hope he does not ride again.
The rule and how it was introduced was not clever, but then the BHA and coomon sense and leadership are another issue, if Roy had been sacked or reel on his sword like a real man at the time of the Betfair share issue then I amsure the rule woudl have been implemeted at a sensible time with proper consultation from both sides to see how it works inreality. All it needs really is the fulrong marker nonsense to be removed. |
