It CAN be disputed simply because....
a horse is deemed to have been given a full opportunity to achieve the best possible placing IF it is ridden out to the finish, AND this, even if the whip is not used. The whip changes have no impact upon this rule. |

By:
Richard Hughes on Available, used his stick ZERO times on a 5/4 paper favourite who had been hit previously at Leicester and had drifted like a barge before the off, and three times at most on Tudor Prince.

By:
Compare the Available ride to the well-backed Mr Knightley ride who was whipped 4 times with full ferocity in the finish, and you'll see why punters will feel cheated by these efforts.

Pat COSGRAVE
After being BANNED at Lingfield. Cosgrave, who struck Marcus Antonius on eight occasions when finishing second in the 2m handicap (5.10), said: "I didn't think I was in breech of the rules as I didn't go for my whip early and I thought I'd given him seven, that's why I stopped." He added: "Obviously, things were tight, but it wasn't the sort of race worth getting a ban in so I put my whip down. |

Vhujon - hit 3 times down the neck, and 4 times full-on the rear.(7)
Gazboolou - hit full-on the rear 7 times.(7) Hierarch - hit 3 times full-on the rear and twice down the neck.(5) Tudor Prince - hit ONCE full-on the rear, and once in the forehand position (2) Richard Hughes' lack of effort was a disgrace for anyone who backed it, and they have not been given a fair run for the money. Hughes has only contempt for punters and has said he doesnt ride for punters in interviews before. I wish the VERY worst.... |

Somebody on here asked for a price on R Hughes for the jockey's Title, the other day.
Their reasoning was .... "remember last year - and he's only 20 odd behind." He must be 'a million' now. ![]() |

i hope all the jockeys fall foul of this new rule (maybe they could collude together for this effect), then something will need to be done. Either that or some sort of punters' strike because this is ridiculous.

looking forward to champions day, if we get a few close finishes there's every chance we'll have no top jocks left

no coincidence how Hughes beat the daylights out of his gambled on stables Mr Knightley though, and the drift on Available, and the hardly interested finish on Tudor Prince. He is determined to take Frankie's title of Number 1 c*** on the racing scene now.
