So some argue ...

4-10 Leicester.

The 79-rated Avon Lady beats the Godolphin odds on shot, rated 103... with 4 horses rated in the 90s behind.

Avon Lady has NOT suddenly 'found 25 lbs' - on this her 14th outing - having run Placed 4 times in Handicaps off marks in the 70s - and won Handicaps off 69 and 74.

Of course - these things happen

But one wonders would it still have happened today, though.

You are right, onlooker.  Those sort of results were not heard of before Monday.

seem to remember saddlers bend winning a fillies condition stakes at leicester earlier this year, she too had plenty to find.

Only the 39lbs to find that day, Stevie G.  I'm sure if Queally had BATTERED THE FAV we would have got the result we all wanted though Sad

That tired old cliché is almost as bad as the one about poor refereeing decisions even themselves out over the season. If the best horses always win the Sharastani would not have won the Derby nor Tony Bin the Arc.

I did post - "Of course - these things happen"

Jacqueline Quest hung badly that day -

and Refused to Race next time -

Bit of a clue there.

No way Jose....in my book the best horse will only win if its ridden by a good jockey. You have only got to look at Richard Hills to see how many times he loses on the best horse. Let alone how many times McCoy wins on anything with 4 legs and a tail

To clarify just in case onlooker but my post wasn't a reflection of anything you had said and more about the media pundits who trot that line out whenever they want to sit on the fence.

To clarify, I'm suggesting that anyone who thought the best horse always won pre-rule...and anyone who thinks the best horse will always win post-rule....is an utter clown who must live in la-la land.  Thank you.

Headmaster -

Could you be so kind as to give forumite Feck N.Eejit a nudge - and inform him of such.

He is such a daydream believer.

Why would he have to nudge me onlooker, I totally agree with him.

'..... My main point is that as far as running a race and getting a result is concerned[/b] the whip is pointless.[/b]

That is correct. If you tied lead weights to their legs there would still be a result. In what way does that equate to saying the best horse always wins?
