ASCOT on Monday started watering for Saturday's inaugural Qipco British Champions Day meeting after breezy conditions forced clerk of the course Chris Stickels' hand.

The going was on Monday described as good to firm, good in places, drying out from good, and four millimeteres was applied to both the straight and round courses by the end of Monday.

Stickels said: "The strong breeze has dried up the course in the last 24 hours and this has prompted today's watering.

"I don't want to be putting on a lot of water on the course at this time of year but we will monitor the situation through the week as the forecast is for mainly dry weather.

"I am looking to offer ground which is a combination of good and good to firm on Saturday."

Lets hope the rain stays away and the ground is no slower than good.
Mr Gosden and a few others will be doing a rain dance for Sat with there horses, as they would want it soft.

Buick got a - "hopefully Ascot will make it  safe ground for Saturday." in yesterday, when interviewed.

"Safe ground" - being a trainer'jockey euphemism for Water the hell out of it.
