I don't know about original, but I remember a Drakes Drum running in a 2m handicap at Kempton in the 1960's. Might even have been the Queens Prize. Bric-a-Brac was one of the runners.

DRAKES DRUM was a sprinter, trained by Colin Crossley, on the Wirral.
PAUL McCARTNEY bought the horse for his father, as a present.
Paul had to put out a plea to fans to NOT back the horse - simply because of the Beatles connection- in the Hylton Handicap over 6 furlongs - at LIVERPOOL on Grand National day 1966.
The bloody thing won at 20/1.

The late Billy Fury had a horse too.Unlike McCartney senior Billy could afford the training fees. Anselmo was its name and it finished fourth in the Derby.I am not sure but it may have appeared in a film with him. When this body that was once a Temple has got itself wrapped around a few bottles I give the neighbours a wonderful rendition of "Halfway To Paradise".Sadly they do not appear to be music lovers.
