This race will be significant in that it represents the very first under the new rules.

The BHA will be determined this goes to plan. Every jockey will be under 'firm' instructions not to blow it by breaking the rules so soon.

Will there be a mutiny resulting in many jockeys being brought to task. I doubt it, especially if they are under strict 'establishment' orders.

So lets assume that the race will be run as required. Without doubt, the horse that fits the bill to produce the right result for all concerned is the favourite simply because in its previous race....."slowly away towards rear, headway over 1f out, ran on under a hand ride, not reach winner (improved)"

The BHA will be hoping this wins without even having to touch it.

Some nervous people at the BHA I would imagine.

This is going to go spiffingly well or it could be a PR disaster.

Change of trousers at hand for Struthers, please.

Riders are allowed a maximum eight strokes of the whip in jumps races and seven on the Flat, with penalties for riders who break the regulations.

Jockeys could lose riding fees and some prize money if they breach the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) rules.

Only five strokes are allowed in the last furlong or from the final jump.
