...about the whip ban, I suggest you count every stroke administered by every jockey on every horse throughout today's races and for those exceeding the limit submit a formal complaint to the Disciplinary Department. That should keep them busy.

By the way, as happened a couple of times that I can remember in recent months, what is the situation where a jockey administers a hit on the head of the opposing horse. Will that be counted against him or the opposing jockey?

Calm down.

Surely you noticed how more sensibly the Flat jockeys were riding on Saturday, especially at York.

I think the FLAT will be fine - and probably better for it.

It's the JUMPS were the problems will no doubt arise.

But isn't jump racing where the hulabaloo from RSPCA about the whip originated, beaten up tired horses with the whip does look bad for anyone outside looking in, in fact in can at times be an awful sight when the ground is bottomless and horses can barely lift their feet out of the ground, even for one like me who is not a very sensitive soul.

8 cracks for tired horses over jumps seems fair to me, the jump jockeys will just have to go to the gym more often and pump some iron to help them with their pushing technique.
