My horse never even got a run because when he found out that the starter's assistant was no longer allowed to use the bull whip he just planted himself and told the jockey not to bother whipping him because he was fed up with this racing malarkey.

These new whip rules have a flipside, how many times will you say my horse would have won if only my jockey could have hit him a couple more times?, then you have the counter argument, how many times will you say my horse would not have won if the jockey on the runner up could have hit his horse a couple more times?.

No but you want it to be a level playing field and that is not the case anymore. One jock will feel very different about the possibilty of getting a ban than another, one may be better at maths, one may be tired from a tough day and lose count or many other countless variables.
Before they were all at least just MEANT to be trying to win. Now all they think about is the ban - it's ruined the sport.

Its going to take a bit of time bilbo for jockeys to get used to riding with a counter in their head, the first few days will be a bit confusing for some, whether we agree with them or not I can't see the authorities changing things the new rules are here to stay no matter what. But in a few weeks most of the confusion will have abated and most results will be the right result regardless of whip restrictions.
