Absolutely brilliant horse.
Report tilt10 • October 8, 2011 6:38 AM BST
Champions massacre their opposition they just don't come round the turn just in front and win by three or four lengths.
"Best in the world".What a load of rubbish."Win by 15 lengths".What a load of rubbish

The horse is mollycoddled. Never gone beyond six furlongs. Never raced against the best in the world.Beats average Australian  sprinters week in week out.Until this horse goes to England and takes on Frankel and beats him over 1400-1600mtrs he can never be ragarded as the best in the world.

I have never seen this horse massacre a field the way Frankel, Vain and Luskin Star destroyed their opposition by ten or twelve lengths.   Black caviar would not get within three or four lengths of Vain. The best horse and only freak  i have seen on an Australian racetrack over the last fifty years.

Frankel would destroy Black Caviar by many lengths. It would be an embarrasment

Why does she have to come there, send your hacks to us, i always see these threads and they are always the same "come to the UK prove you have the best" go and get ****, she has won 14 straight with no intentions to retire yet, you lot are only interested in the breeding side of things we enjoy the racing.

If you don't have somthing of interest to add to the post shot your cake hole.

Handbags at dawn Laugh She did beat absolute hacks today..But still what a horse...Would love to see her go 20 & 0 with the 20th victory coming at Royal Ascot next year..All hail Mrs sweet sweet Caviar..
Report ilikewavingatbuses • October 8, 2011 8:34 AM BST
i dont agree with her having to come to uk to 'prove' herself, oz have always had the best sprinters! it was a g2 today so she only did what was expected tbf.

fwiw i think shes brilliant but i believe frankel would get the better of her over 7-8f. be an interesting race over 6.
Report ReimerpYsatnaf • October 8, 2011 8:37 AM BST
Got up at 3 this morning to watch her race, she looking stunning. Not sure what she beat but by god she looked awesome
Report roggrain • October 8, 2011 8:53 AM BST
Those who would like to see Frankel vs Caviar never will. Not because Caviar won't come over here, she may well come to Ascot, but because,as correctly pointed out by NO_BS,breeding is much bigger business here than racing as born out by the
Newmarket sales this week. Frankel will probably be retired at 3.
Report ilikewavingatbuses • October 8, 2011 8:56 AM BST
i would be amazed if frankel wasnt retired provided he wins his next race, regardless of what sir henry promised!
Report educeee • October 8, 2011 11:17 AM BST
to the halfwit who said she's only beaten average sprinters

Hay List would smash any sprinter you got and she beats him by 2 lengths each time, without Black Caviar, Hay List would probably be undefeated in all the big group 1/2 sprinting races we got, he's injured at the moment and won't be back for a while

I'm a fan of horse racing, not a fan of horse breeding, I enjoy my own countries brand of horse racing a whole lot more then I do seeing dour stayers getting belted with a whip at the 2 furlong pole

I think the real match race worth watching would be Rocketman vs Hay List, that would be something
Report megsy • October 8, 2011 11:40 AM BST
hmm, so she beat hacks??, tj smith race had 9 group 1 winners.

her sectionals today were mind blowing considering she was always in first gear. ive watched frankel..he cant put 5 lens on his apponnents in 100m like this mare and for her to do that in a sprint with unheard of sectionals is even more impressive.if she was a male her rating would be higher than your boy and sprinters are disadvantage at the rating system.
Report rawefrw • October 8, 2011 11:41 AM BST
I would back caviar over frankel for sure... Just never seems to be under pressure, highest cruising speed I have seen of a horse.
Report megsy • October 8, 2011 11:48 AM BST
Black Caviar is a freak sprinter and Frankel is a freak miler you stick to the mile, she can have the 5,6,7 f races. they are both undefeated and demolishing g1 competition. she's coming to ascot, but can never see frankel go shorter to take her on. so why cant we all enjoy both ffs.

No doubt she is top top class but I'd def like to see her put under 'sustained' pressure and come out the other side. Before our Aussie friends get on their high horse (as they tend to do so very easily) i'm not aying she will crack under pressure just that I'd like to see the result of that pressure!

she will run a mile dont worry about that, moody has even quoted "he cant wait to she gets over a mile"

watch the btc cup spykyer you noongah, Hay List kicked on the turn, she didn't balance at all well on the turn and gave Haylist a few lengths then the 2 thundered home and beat the rest by a long long way, well and truly those 2 would beat anything else in the world, especially Hay List over 7f

if she was an european mare you'd be tugging your meat all over her wins, just admit we have a superior sprinting superstar (as per usual) and what's more is she's a mare

you need to appreciate Hay List to appreciate how good Black Caviar is, until you do that you'll always think in your pea little head that she's beating nothing horses

Listen and learn something for a change you Poms.

Black Caviar thrashed Star Witness (unplaced) in second gear mind you, by 7.8 lengths in the Group 1 Newmarket Hcp 1200m down the Flemington straight in the autumn running 1.07.36 for the 1200m or 6f.

Star Witness was then placed in the kings stand conservatively Black Caviar would have won the King Stand this year by five with her head on her chest. She set a weight carrying record for a mare to win the Newmarket with an impost of 58kg and ran home her last 600m (3f) in 32.67 eased down. If you think Miss Andretti and choisir and takeover Target were good wait until you see this thing, she she will annihilate anything she comes up against over there.

Judging by what I saw today and how relaxed she was in the yard and how she looked and jumped and how tractable she was, she''s frighteningly improved conservatively at least four lengths.

educeee - I've had it with you - you really are a pathetic, pea brained embarrassment to your country. I have said nothing but praise for bc on a few threads. I call her a 'top top class horse' in this one and I've said that i may well come to Ascot just to watch her over on your little nursery ground forum.
Yet you persist with your jingoistic child like nonsense - if you can't understand that as a sports fan i want to see her put under sustained pressure to see the best of her then you truly are thick beyond comprehension. Spyker hits the mark.

The horse has never been taken out of its comfort zone.

Black caviar is five years old.

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO WAIT?

I still remember standing in the members stand at Randwick with my Grandmother in shock after watching Vain win the champagne by 10 lenghths in the fastest time ever for a two yer old over 6furlongs in OZ. He then went to Melbourne and won the Craven A stakes  by twelve lengths
By the time Vain was an early three year old he was beating the best sprinter milers in Australia like Black Onyx and Darryls Joy by six lengths. These horses were superior to Hay List.
Carrying up to 10lb over wfa.   He  beat Daryls Joy over a mile by six lenghths when clearly he was going to struggle over this distance.
Daryls Joy won the cox plate and then went to America and broke Tullochs record for a mile and a half in an era when horses didn't travel.
Vain was retired in his mid three year old year due to injury just before he was due to be sold to America

Takeover Target was another great Australian sprinter that campaigned all over the world mixing distances and taking on all challengers

So why is this horse being so protected?

I love it when twenty or thirty year old journalists jump up and down declare Black caviar the greatest sprinter ever. What a load of rubbish.

Loyd Williams rates Blavk Caviar as the third best sprinter  he has seen behind Vain and Manikato.Tommy smith rated Vain as the best sprinter in  world at the time.

Yes i agree Black Caviar is a good horse and i rate him the third best australian sprinter i have seen behind Vain and Luskin Star.

She might build up a record of winning 50 races in a row beating  average to good australian horses over 1200 metres only, but until she  mixes up distances and goes overseas she should never be regarded as one of the best .

What i want to see is Black Caviar come around the turn leading by three or four and win by 10 lenghts the way Vain and Frankel demolished good horses. Not just drift away and win by three the way Black caviar does.
Report megsy • October 9, 2011 3:06 AM BST
tilt10 ...ive seen the best run...from vain to manikato, both australia has ever seen until black caviar came along.
your quote from loyd williams was 12 months ago.

take over target ran overseas and beat the europeans at the tender age of 7yr 8yr,9yr and went back as a 10 yr old northern hemisphere breeding time.

at the minute, the top 4 highest rated sprinters in the world are black caviar, haylist, sepoy, rocketman.

silly question she's never been out of her comfort zone, she's a freak, strides 9 to the average 11, no horse can compete against the freak...ffs...and you talk about australian horses in the 60's and 70's who were known to race twice in a day.
also go look at manikato's record, fantastic, my favorite sprinter with guts, but he won mostly within a length or shorter and had to be fresh first up.

you have your opinion, but did vain and manikato go overseas?

or have england brought their best to australia as the world knows have the bestest sprinters and not just a year, but year after year.

as the current racing season is still going the top 36 of the 50 best sprinters in the world were australian raced or bred.

dont go trying to tell a wise racing follower crap saying its only the younger media who havent seen a real champion. you sound like old school who cant handle fact, Australia has somthing better than you have ever seen.

This is a comical thread.

It's extremely odd how some nationalities just seem to rub each other up the wrong way - the 'Poms' and 'Aussies' being a classic example. It seems bizarre to me that people are so obsessed with knocking great horses, and to me Black Caviar is clearly an absolute superstar. If she did come to England to take on the best European sprinters, I have no doubt she would put them to the sword with ease. That said, they are not a great bunch so not sure why she would come (seems she has little to gain and a lot to lose).

Frankel is obviously an absolute worldbeater as well, and I will be surprised if he is ever beaten over a mile providing he turns up fit and well whenever we get to see him run. The likelihood of Black Caviar and Frankel taking each other on is, realistically, minute. And even if they did you can bet your life that the loser would have plenty of excuses.

I am deliberately staying out of the "my di** is bigger than your di**" banter, but as a 'Pom' I would just like to say it is frustrating to hear comments like "Listen and learn something for a change you Poms". We are not all in the same camp ffs! And to be fair, more than one of the 'Aussies' on this thread have been telling us that So You Think is the next coming. Until he got beaten. Twice. At which point the excuses came. Yet to anyone with a modicum of race-reading ability, he ran to within 2lb of his mark on every appearance he made this season, which suggests he is as good as he has appeared and no better.

So, to wrap up, Black Caviar is a true great. So is Frankel. Just enjoy them both.
Report tilt10 • October 9, 2011 4:59 AM BST
Clearly i am an OZI and can appreciate great horses where ever they come from but i have always thought the word champion is used too loosely in all parts of the world.

Frankel Secretariat Kingston Town  Vain Pharlap Bernborough etc etc  are freaks who did extoardinary things in races. I have yet to see the same freakish performances from black caviar

No horse in my living memory in Australia has attracted so much unwarranted hype as Black Caviar.
Media beat up you might say.

Front page of the Brisbane sunday mail newspaper this morning are comparing Black caviar with PharLap.What an insult

I agree with tom, he hit it on the head.

how can anyone use Lloyd Williams as a reference when it comes to sprinting horses, the guy only has interest in stayers, he's the one buying all your 2nd rate stayers (Mourayan, Midas Touch, Rockhampton to name a few), how can you honestly use him as a reference to horses over sprinting distances?

I love Lloyd, I often back his stable in races as he buys quality horses, not necessarily superstars but quality horses but anyone using him as a reference for horses over sprinting distances needs to have a few more drinks.
