Good effort for an inexperienced jockey after the horse missed the break IMO. Looking quite strong in a finish now too for a lad who's only ridden 3 winners.

worst ride ever seen

shame. I'm sure Prime Circle will get a nice 6lb or so increase for not winning.

did he use the stick at all?...
|
|
By:
not sure. think he got more of a run from the hrose than 90% of 7lb claimers would've though.

he'll be disgusted with himself though. Not one for the scapbook...

Dan, fair enough you stand up for an inexperienced jock, but this horse had plenty in hand last night, probably 4-5 lengths, and he got beat.
Interesting looking at the start of his last 2 races, both of which he was drawn 8. When he won at 14-1, the jock was alert and physcially made an effort to push him out of the stalls to race prominently. Completely different last night. From the same stall, he made ZERO effort to push him out of the stalls to get a pitch, and once the horses either side of him had stolen 3/4 length out of the gate, actcually pulled him back to avoid being brought down as they both came across him. Race over. In this age of the whip debate, people forget that race riding starts in the stalls on the flat, and every obstacle can mean lengths over jumps. Forget the few slaps of the whip that the jocks are going to lose in the final furlong of the race. I'm much more interested in a rider who gives consideration to what he is going to do for the previous 95% of the race. Which Jacob Butterfield failed to do last night. |

Agree with a lot of that, but i am sure the plan wouldve been to race prominently again last night. The horse stuck his head in the air and looked after himself as the horse on his left came across, imo - doesn't look the bravest. I had a fair bet and pretty much accepted he would need a stone in hand to win after 100 yards. he didn't do much wrong from there did he?

we will have to disagree then, Dan. Personally thought that having lost a length in the gate, it was Jacob who pulled the horse's head up in the air to avoid beng brought down. Horses don't naturally put their heads up in the air themselves.

.... well done with Utlimate last week, btw, jumped very well for first start over fences

I know he is an inexperienced jock but let us call a spade a spade - it was a sh1t ride full stop.

Yeah well i just think that's going to be a useful 7lb claim if he keeps improving. Cheers re ultimate, brian always said he'd jump well.
