David Crosse Gr8 to get a Winner on Justabout today at Exeter. Classic example of horses that won't be winning nxt week. Does the BHA want us to accept 2nd place when 1 more tap would win you the race?? They have had no Back Bone in making this deceision.
Paul Struthers to David Crosse If we'd have had no backbone we'd have either a) banned it for anything but safety as many in and our of racing have called for or B) had just backhand only behind the saddle or C) disqualified horses. I know it's not easy but you have no idea how hard it has been under existing Rules and Penalties to defend and justify use of the whip to animal welfare (not animal rights) groups and to the general public at large, both racing and non/racing. Very emotive subject and we're all passionate about the game.
Phil taylor New whip rule flat jockey gets fined £109 jump jock gets fined £148 amateur jock get fined nothing is this fair?
Paul Struthers in reply to Sam Stronge and David Crosse re;fines As we said to Phil Taylor the money is ringfenced so you need to put in a submission about how that money might be used. However, the main point is surely that if people can ride within the Rules whatever they are - and the evidence is clearly that many can (Paul Hanagan down from 1.5% whip offences to 0.3% despite almost dbl winners)
Sam Stronge to Paul Struthers and David Cross. We are licensed by the bha so why weren't we consulted if its directly effecting us to? Have we been overlooked weren't we even consulted about this, we have to pay license fees and abide by rules but have been blanked.
And on and on it goes with about 5 or 6 people now involved in the debate but the most striking post i seen was what i think is Paul Struthers having a dig at Frankie ..maybe not As a punter and previously v small time owner, I can totally accept losing fair and square, but nothing more frustrating than losing when your jock rode within the Rules & winning jock didn't.
