Zafonic's 2000 Guineas win was somewhat amazing but what Frankel did was bordering on insanity.

For a horse to go off as fast as he did and have the entire field off the bridle after 3 furlomgs would be considered suicidal under normal circumstances.

We truly saw something very special that day and proable the closest thing to Secretariat famous demolition job we are ever likely to see.

Frankel is probably the only horse in 50 years, apart from the aforemetioned, that can be compared to Sea Bird II who won the Epsom Derby and the Arc.  They were very diffirent and unlike Frankel there were no signs of Sea Bird II being a powerhouse he just glided on air and almost looked motionless when quickening.

When Sea Bird II won the Arc it was regarded and still is today as the most competitive international field in the races history.

Frankel may never face such oppostion but Canford Cliffs was said to be by Richard Hannon the best he had ever trained and by Hughsie as a freak and the best he had ever ridden. The way Frankel disposed of him like he was some sort of 3rd rate work horse and his demolition job in the 2000 Guineas are what put him where the likes of Timeform rate him now.

In my opinion Frankel deserves every bit of his rating and I can tell you I am one hard cookie to please.

Others have made virtually all of the running like Mr Baileys or Mystiko and others like as already mentioned Zafonic have been impressive winners but I can't think of too many horse that did both.

Best guineas was when Brigadier Gerard beat Mill Reef. Frankel is exceptional, no doubt about it, but those two would have beat him. Why? Because they were better over further, have the pace to stay with him and then beat him for speed at the end. If the ground is on the soft side of good Immortal Verse will give him something to think about!

I DO NOT REMEMBER IT

But Tudor Minstrel did much the same thing ( 1947 ? ) and won by even further.
