Someone should tell your racing commentators to do a little research before they make a complete goose of themsleves with ridiculous statements like the one I head last night that the Tattersalls Millions is the richest 2yo race in the world which your commentator announced as they jumped in the race yesterday.
Obviously he's never heard of the Golden Slipper in Sydney run in April which will carry prizemoney of no less than 3.5 million Australian, the Gold Coast (Queensland) Magic Millions for 2yo's in January 2012 is worth 2 million Australian while the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield (Melbourne) in February 2012 will be worth 1 million Australian, given the current approximate exchange rate of 1 oz dollar = 62.02 pence that means even the Blue Diamond is worth considerably more than the Tattersall Millions which is miles behind the value of the Golden Slipper.
