Mind you, when the stalls opened I didn't see them scattering to different parts of the track which we HAVE seen on courses a little bit closer to home!

Good afternoon Aladdin Sane i agree totally, but these french races from a pace point of view and judgement of the pace infront of them, reach the bottom of the barrel.

I can totally see your point of view 'metro john'.  Their style of racing is all about slow, slow, slow and then quicken. All then depends on where you're positioned when the quickening occurs.  Just got used to it over the years I suppose.  Think Steve Cauthen was the first to challenge their style years ago on Old Vic.  They let him go and he never came back to them!!

The French do a damn sight better than the Brits and Irish at the Breeders Cup. French tactics seem to work ok there.

That would be because of the american presence of pace (they not used to that)

Agreed! French jockeys wouldn't be out of place in western films!

Brilliant front-running ride by Buick to confuse the Frenchies.

Elusive Kate won her last race, the Prix du Calvados, from the front as well, although on that occasion Olivier Peslier was doing the steering. Confusing things, form books.
