Having seen the draw and the going at Longchamp I can't believe you can back this one at 10s with a couple of bookies.
As we all know these sprinters are generally much of a muchness, and arguably the three best speedsters on the scene aren't in the race so this won't take much winning. A low draw has proved crucial in recent times and SP has bagged the two box, right next to the rail. He might look in and out to some people but connections have always said he is not easy to keep cherry ripe and often takes a prep run and serious work to be ready to roll. That means the odd apparent disappointing run can be forgiven, but his record when 100% on rattling fast ground stands up to close scrutiny. He won a good Nunthorpe last year and was a good winner at Haydock earlier this year. As far as I can see there are no negatives on Sunday and I couldn't kick him out of the three.
Simples - ping the traps, bag the lead and it should be job done. Easy this punting game...
Fancy the Middleham Park Racing runner, Captain Dunne, 16/1 looks value and we know he goes very well at the course, drying ground and will run a big race IMO

She kept it quiet from me den, never mentioned it.(kidding mate as you know).
Didnt get to walk all around the course but **** said the 5f is slightly quicker than on the Arc track but still no worse than (UK) good ground.

Like sole power too but as already posted is a horse who likes coming from behind the pace so whether draw good or not is debatable but 10's fair price to find out

Fair enough with the alternative views, but think I just worded my original post pretty badly. I know Sole Power usually comes from off the pace but it is my opinion that he doesn't need to, and that at Longchamp they will jump him out and sit on the pace (if not lead outright) before kicking for home at the distance.
To me, especially with sprinters, "an out and out hold up horse" is one that needs cover and wins its races by weaving through tiring runners, In both the Nunthorpe and Temple wins, Sole Power was never far off the speed and ran both races with virtually no cover - he saw stacks of daylight on both occasions. Think the hold-up tag is overplayed with him, but will of course find out on Sunday.

France Galop Director General Hubert Monzat took the opportunity to assure connections that the ground at Longchamp will be "fair for all" prior to the draw for the 90th running of the prestigious contest
He said: "I would like to reassure all racing professionals, and especially those connections of horses with an aptitude for softer ground that we will present a surface which is fair for all, and that the whole undertaking has been carried out with the utmost professionalism."
Monzat said that the ground was "between good and soft" after another 10mm of water had been added on Thursday night, and that heexpected to race on good ground on both days of the meeting beginning Saturday.
Ground won't be fast enough imo, good luck though.

No they won't. Ground unlikely to be fast enough unfortunately otherwise your original point that 10/1 was a big price would have been very valid.

Very frustrating indeed, although others called it right. I thought he would have been able to lay handier early on but he still nearly got the job done.
