Anyone having trouble with G. Chrome?
Microsoft Essentials just stopped an 'attack'.
It removed the 'attacker'.
I had to re-boot to clean the PC.
Now when I click on my shortcut to G.Chrome, I get a message 'shortcut to G. chrome does not exist'.
Anyone else?

Thanks for the replies.
Did a system restore and now seems OK

Does not sound like a browser problem, if you had to do a system restore.

Ian_S advice was simplest, and best ... an UNinstall - then new RE-Install of the browser.

I would say that Chrome is more vulnerable to such attacks. Might be better using Firefox.

I was on BF, and it slowed to a crawl.
MSE, which I have installed, and runs in the background, popped up to say they had blocked an attack.
They asked if I wanted to remove it-Yes.
You have to re-start you PC, to take effect.
Then,  I got a message 'shortcut to G. chrome does not exist'.

ok thanks, does mse tell you exactly what caused the attack though ?  the short cut thing could be anything tbh,and not to do with the attack.

Yes, MSE, told me what it was blocking, but, can't remember what it was.
Have since run Spybot, and Malwarebytes, and have removed more carp.
Seems ok at the minute.

It only takes a little googling ...

Information about incorrect detection of Google Chrome as PWS:Win32Zbot

On September 30th, 2011, an incorrect detection for PWS:Win32/Zbot was identified and as a result, Google Chrome was inadvertently blocked and in some cases removed
. Within a few hours, Microsoft released an update that addresses the issue. Signature versions 1.113.672.0 and higher include this update. Affected customers should manually update Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) with the latest signatures. After updating the definitions, reinstall Google Chrome. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our customers.

To get the latest definitions, simply launch MSE, go to the update tab and click the Update button. The definitions can be updated manually by visiting the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

    * http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971606
