The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. They found that the winner PENITENT, ridden by Paul Hanagan, had interfered with SECRECY, placed second, ridden by Ted Durcan. The Stewards found Hanagan in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right without taking sufficient steps to prevent interference. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.

The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately one and a half furlongs out. They found that DUBAWI DANCER, placed second, ridden by Paul Hanagan, had interfered with GREYFRIARS DRUMMER, unplaced, ridden by Joe Fanning, who then in turn interfered with GOTTANY O’S, unplaced, ridden by Sam Hitchcott. The Stewards found Hanagan in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed DUBAWI DANCER to drift right causing interference. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Wednesday 28 September 2011.

Now if you've been done a couple of days ago for exactly the same offence, how is it you only get a caution this time around Confused

There really does seem to be different punishments for different jockeysPlain

Cos each case is taken on its merits

But he's found guilty both times. Surely the punishment should go up for repeat offenders, not down.

The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference shortly after the start. They found that SIGNOR SASSI, placed second, ridden by Neil Callan had interfered with BORDER REVIA (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Paul Hanagan who in turn interfered with BE CALM, unplaced, ridden by James Sullivan, who in turn interfered with GRIZZLE, placed third, ridden by Antioco Murgia. The Stewards found Callan in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right handed without taking sufficient steps to prevent the interference. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 September 2011.

Neil Callan, 2 days for exactly the same offenceConfused

Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby • September 26, 2011 10:12 PM BST
ah he is my mistake

try checking out Richard Fahey's record (on the BHA website) every time he is asked to explain an improved performance to the stewards.

Just sticks 2 fingers in their faces.

Hanagan as far as I can see is riding on the 28-9.

it's an interesting phenomenon crossing and leaning on opponents. The psychological impact on the other horse is almost greater than the ground the other horse forfeits and all the top jockeys do it (not saying in any way that it is intentional).
Report silvergreaser • September 26, 2011 11:39 PM BST
If they had automatic disqualification soon see jockeys making every possible measure to correct their mounts, as thing stands the current rules virtually encourage jockeys to break the rules knowing that disqualification is nigh on impossible only in real extreme circumstances will a horse be thrown out and even then thats debatable depending on the interpretation of different sets of stewards, and if pitiful warnings and one day bans are the norm jockeys are been handed a virtual get out jail card free even if guilty as sin?.

When Hanagan won on Vittachi at Catterick, I thought he took the ground of Strong Knight as he cut across to the stands' rail - it certainly looked as if Duran fentiman had to stop riding for a couple of strides.
