Kieren Fallon is to ride Brown Panther in Saturday's Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster.
The title-chasing jockey steps in for the mount aboard the Tom Dascombe-trained runner after his recent second in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury, replacing Richard Kingscote, who has ridden the colt on all seven of his previous starts. Fallon's agent Terry Norman said: "Kieren will be riding Brown Panther in the Leger. "Tom rang this morning and said that he and Michael (Owen, owner) wanted Kieren to ride. "He's delighted to be able to ride a horse that has a good chance on the form book." Brown Panther, who strolled home in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier in the year, is one of 11 to stand their ground at the five-day stage for the final Classic of the season. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Sea Moon is hot favourite for the race following his Great Voltigeur romp and features along with Geoffrey Freer winner Census. Godolphin have three possible challengers with Blue Bunting, winner of the 1000 Guineas, Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks, their leading contender. Her regular pacemaker Rumh, who is trained by Saeed bin Suroor, has been supplemented for the race while Genius Beast is the third contender for the Godolphin team. John Gosden saddled Arctic Cosmos to victory last term and he has two strings to his bow in Bahrain Trophy winner Masked Marvel and Buthelezi. Aidan O'Brien has indicated he will run only Seville in the race but Wonder Of Wonders and Freedom are also still in the field for the Ballydoyle handler. |

Owen is ruthless,it did't take him long to dump his last trainer, plus we all knew Kingscote could't really mix it with the top Jocks.

Tom Dascombe "It's been a very hard decision but we've gone for a more experienced jock"

Have to feel sorry for the guy. Being told by the owner and trainer that even though you are stable jockey you're not good enough

It is tough but then thats sport. Surely as an owner you want to give yourself the best chance of winning. Best available jockey was probably Fallon, although as a backer of BP I was more than happy to let Kingscote ride.
