Nationality is an old-fashioned concept. Up here in Derry we are just glad to be part
of the world community and we don't have time for concepts like "Irish" or "British".

We have a diverse welcoming society.

Irish people, jockeys mentioned, will always be welcome here and apart from adding to the quality of racing also add to the quality of the country. (Look at how many Irish people arrive and stay for good)

I think that's one thing we're good at.

(I admit Yorkshire lets us all down).

I'm a better jockey than Queally, and the last time I was on a horse was 30 years ago.

The ironic fact is that the Brits own Ireland now anyway so the Irish will be soon be known as British or more likely English. I also believe that there are a lot of successful Irish jockeys as a result of the higher proportion of the population being of pixie descendency

I looked the list of jocks and wondered why they spend the majority of their riding career here in the UK. Is it perhaps that they have defected because the Irish can't offer them an opportunity to race there? Can't the Irish do anything right?

Hee hee. Good point. In Derry, prem league shirts outnumber GAA shirts by hundreds to one.

Celtic shirts are pretty popular - probably the most popular - but Glasgow's not really in Ireland either.

cant the british do anything?!?!?

Just put the word Empire after it and ask yourself the same question.
Britain gained the title "Great" from the world as it recognised Britain as its overlord.

You have a point kavvie britain is in a poor state but if all those effing foriegners would just eff off to where they came from we could make a start on putting things right.
