The race conditions determine which horses are legible.  Criteria such as sales price, auction house, sire etc can determine which horses can run or not.  Normally race off level weights with the normal fillies allowances, except where stated in the entries.

A race is a Median Auction Novice Race if it is a flat race restricted to two year old horses which

4.7.3.1 have not won a flat race classified above Class 4 in accordance with Schedule 2, other than one treated as Class 4 in the conditions of the race,

4.7.3.2 have not won more than two races of any class, and

4.7.3.3 are the progeny of stallions which established a median price for the sale of yearlings contemporary with the entrants in the race based on the sale or bought in price of one or more animals at specified sales.

Maiden Auction Race

A Flat race restricted to two-year-old maiden horses sold or bought in by public auction under the hammer at "specified sales".
There is usually a maximum auction price attached to these races, with horses sold below a certain price receiving weight from more expensive horses. Horses which are unsold having failed to reach their reserves do not qualify, nor do private sales.

Maiden Median Auction Race

This is a Maiden Flat race with an additional criteria relating to the sire of the horse entered.  Horses are only eligible for this race if their sire’s progeny for that generation reached a certain median price (or less) when sold or bought in at auction as yearlings.
